It will only do 45kph (28mph) two hours at that speed is not far. It takes them to school and back which is about 45 to 50 minutes each way. That's plenty.

I too rarely do more than an hour or two, but on occasion, maybe 3 or 4 times a year i will go outside that self imposed limit

That's not good enough even if I use surface streets. Most of the ones I use are 35-40 mph.

Good enough for the twins.

Mine will do 260+kph (160+mph) but I've never taken it there.

Speed limits here are

30kph (18.6mph) in restricted areas (narrow streets, near school etc)
50kph (31mph) in other urban areas not limited by above
70 or 80kph (43.5, 50mph) on country roads (covers most roads)
80 or 90kph (50 or 56mph) on dual carriageways
110 to 130kph (68 to 82mph) on autoroutes

Which intend to stick to.

Myself, even without rideshare I can be driving for hours.
Though I'm really wanting something other than rideshare now. My body just does not want live in my car again.

I live in California. We have suggestions. 25-35 in school zones or residential, 45 lots of other places, 55 even on some roads in town, 75 in the freeways, amd its not likely you'll get pulled over at 80.
Amd I like Clarkson's thinking that excessively enforced speed limits are problematic, for among other reasons you do have one more thing to watch amd something taking your eyes off the road.

There is a lot more driving space on your side of the Atlantic puddle. The 3 major towns surrounding us are all within 25 km (about 16 miles). Most other places we visit are within 50km (30 miles). Just occasionally we need to get to Perigueux, Brive or Bergerac about 80km away (50 miles). Or the Limoges 160km (100miles)

Especially here in California. Here its very possible to drive one direction for several hours and still be in California.

Hmm, no need to watch your speed now, cars will beep at set speeds and my satnav also beeps at me quite aggressively if i go more than 5% over the limit. Although it has been known to be wrong. There is a 70 limit on the way to Brive that the satnav thinks should be 50. At least it drowns out the kids nattering and bickering in the back.

Yeah, the satnav is dumb when it comes to speed limits. Especially if I don't know the speed limit I'll go by what seems normal for road and setting way before I'll go by what the gps tells me.
They also tend to get drunk. At least Google. It can't actually drink or get intoxicated of course, but theres no other explanation for most of the dumb directions that do not make any sense. Like when it wants me to go past a destination and zig-zag around for awhile. Or needlessly drive around the block. Sometimes I can understand it being from an older detour from road construction, but that doesn't account for non-existent roads and on ramps closed for over a year for construction.

I really feel like being a ***** to my ex. Give me a "rub it in" response after I express desire for what I can't have (kids), the shots I can take at her to make her feel insignificant.

I use Mapfactor navigator on my phone, it does not have googles troubles. Only once has it sent me into a field for my destination and that was my fault for entering the wrong coordinates.

And mostly the speed check is accurate... Its a good guide, like Wikipedia, the facts need checking.
