Today I learned something that's probably obvious to the world but it took me 26 years to learn it...

All geese and ducks sleep with their beaks under their wings.

I had my usual Thursday hike - 1 hr, 5000+ steps with a stop for doggie sniffing and greeting.

Home rapid test came up negative again for Covid..... but it feels almost exactly like the Covid I had in June 2021. So I did some research...per Harvard Medicine the rapid test started getting less effective around the Delta variant. What they have in Montreal is a highly contagious sub-version of Omicron.... that and I figure the English speaking Rapid test from America can't interpret the French speaking version from Montreal.... and all I have to say is baguette, croissant, crepes suzette, oui oui

What is the origin of yé-yé?

Yé-yé “of the French rock-’n’-roll culture of the 1960s” is a borrowing from French that, in turn, is adapted from English yeah-yeah. Yeah is a variant of either yea or yes; yea (pronounced as “yey”) comes from Old English gēa “so,” while yes is a compound of gēa and Old English “be it.” A similar shift in meaning happened in some Romance languages, with Latin sīc “so” becoming Portuguese sim and Spanish “yes.” The process of a borrowed word getting borrowed back into its language of origin is called reborrowing, and another well-known example is how English animation was adapted in Japanese as anime, which was itself borrowed back into English as anime. Yé-yé was first recorded in English in the early 1960s.
