The Random, Meaningless Announcements Thread 3!

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I avoid people as much as possible anyway.
Who knows what pestilence you'd bring
from Texas! Covid, killer bees, murder wasps,
fire ants, Ebola, Hanta Virus, lawyers, etc.
Well, I'm moving to Ohio soon. So there's no telling. I don't even know about their pestilences! I might bring both! (Fire ants are of the devil though. Haven't seen the others, other than COVID, which as I said, was nothing.)

I did see some lawyers, but I think they're gone now.

Really?
The "Find it here" state....what a lame slogan.
Whereabouts in the Buckeye state?
What's the attraction in the state wherein I was spawned?

The best thing about Ohio is I-80.
It has cheap gas, free showers, &
it gets me thru Ohio to other places.

Oh....Ohio also has Ohio State in Columbus.
If you can't get into a university, it's a
halfway decent community college.

So many people ask me that! Well, first of all, kids and grandkids. Secondly, extended family. Finally, friends. I lived there many years ago and my brother lived there for over 30 years so there's some history.

It may be saddish history, but there ya have it!

You know what's weird to me? A couple of years ago, I was visiting some family there and we drove from the outskirts of Dayton to the outskirts of Columbus - about an hour. The entire time, my sister in law kept apologizing for the "long drive." Finally I said, "Honey, I am from Texas. My son lives FIVE HOURS from me and he just lives in the middle of the state! And I don't live on the fringes of the state myself. A one hour drive is nothing. I drive half an hour to work every day." Which I did, but not any longer since I am RETIRED!

Hey, is that an announcement? That I'm retired now? I am retired, I am retired! And I am moving! And I now as of this morning, own two houses! Lord help me.

Oh, I am not trying to get into any university. To be honest, I don't see the point. I mean. I would have to be SO INCREDIBLY BORED to do that, and I don't think I will be that bored, but I don't know for sure yet. I am moving at a terrific time of year though! I'll be moving in the spring and then decorating and all that during the summer and by August 31 I should know more about, well, everything.

The only person I know who actually died of COVID had had five shots, the last one in November, and she died the following January of COVID, so I'm pretty skeptical. Sorry.
Can we keep Covid out of this thread because I'm tempted to post real statistics and a story of someone who had over 200 shots and is 100% fine.

Now, now, anecdotes are science. I knew a guy who had three cups of coffee once, and five years later BAM! Herpes!

And that's why I only have two cups of coffee a day.

You're fortunate. It pays to have good genes, &
to avoid things that depress the immune system
eg, stress.
I know some anti-vaxers....er knew some.
They died of Covid 19. Other such friends had to
be hospitalized. They still suffer from Long Covid.
Of all the people I know who got vaccinated, many
caught it, but none had a serious case. No hospital
stays. That's what the vaccine is for, ie, reducing
the severity.
I've never even caught 1 case.
The fatigue I had, once was more then enough for me. Didn't lose my smell or taste but didn't use them much as "open, insert, swallow" was all I had energy for.
And then finally getting back on my feet and moving around a couple months later, doing more than I should have sooner than I should have and hurting my shoulder.

Living in Indiana I only thought I knew a long drive. Now in California I know long drives.
And having only been through the Northern part of Texas that goes thriugh Amarillo, I can see Texas would have some long drives just to still be in Texas.

I will never forget seeing a sign that said "Dallas - 830 miles." I mean, that's like two days of travel time! OK, one long, long day. Road trip, I mean. Where you start out looking cute but don't stay that way.

At least around here, we refer to drives in terms of time and often time of day not distance.

Sure, let's keep it out! I don't care what anyone does one way or the other. I never have, for that matter.

I made a trip from Katy, TX to Tucson, AZ (over 1000 miles) in one day. I would have made it faster but the headwinds on the highway in West Texas slowed me down.

And I would bet you didn't look or smell the same when you got to Tuscon as you did when you left Katy. I mean, maybe you did but I rather doubt it.

Hey, my brother used to live in Katy!

Hey, my brother used to live in Katy!

I was a bit cranky towards the end of the trip.

I bet you were!
I am going to be driving about 12 hours straight tnrough from Texas to Ohio in a few weeks. Ugh. But I know the feeling for sure. It's not like I want to stop two hours or something like that from my destination!
