I'm thinking about applying for a small p2p loan. It actually makes me a bit nervous as I've never done business before, and I worry that I won't be able to sell stuff fast enough to make payments and buying the stuff to do repairs and bulk my inventory up. I already know I won't be making any spending money for awhile, because most of the money I make early on is going to buying parts, tools, and stuff to fix.

Or not. Anywhere I've checked has a minimum borrowing amount that is more than what I'm wanting.

I've been working on two classic XBoxes. One of them it seems I am going to have to hard mod it to fix an issue with the firmware that has went kaput, and the other I need to take the disc drive apart to clean it. And if that doesn't work then I'll have to put a new disc drive in it. And then for both I'll still need controllers and the power and A/V cords for them before I can sell them.

After all that, is it worth it to sell them? I ask because I have no idea what it costs for Xbox parts or what they go for. But in the PC world if I have to replace the hard drive, Mother board and power supply, including my time, it is not worth it to me

Assuming the one needs a new hard drive (cleaning it should be sufficient), I'm still looking at about $80 profit, minus any potential selling costs, and about $60 on the one I'll have to hard mod (mod chips cost more than a disc drive) - but hopefully I'll find buyers for a "face-to-face" transaction so I don't have to pay the fees for Ebay or Amazon.
Once I get some money flowing in, and can buy everything I need to repair and mod the PS3 and XBox 360, I'll be looking at over $100 profit per sale. I haven't priced every console yet, but while I want to carry all of them ever made, the NES has a very low profit margin (about $10 depending on what would need fixed), and I'm finding very few Sega consoles that are being sold for repairs.
And then when I have more money coming in, and can move onto cell phones and tablets, even though they can be expensive to buy - about $100 for broken ones - they too will allow a hefty profit margin that can exceed $100 if they don't need too much work.

Did you ever wipe so hard that the paper rips and your finger goes in? And even after you wash your hands three times you find yourself typing with your thumbs to be on the safe side?

Just me?

Maybe. The worst I've had is my butt hurting really badly from having diarrhea really bad for a few days - so bad it even hurt to sit.

As far as work goes, I'm really liking this repair thing. I don't need a "smoke" break because I can just puff on my e-cig as I want, I've been listening to Alice in Chains while I work, and I played God of War when I did take a break. But it's time to get back to the one XBox to hopefully clean the disc drive out, and if that works I'll mod it, then I'll just need the controller and cord and it will be ready to sell.

Well, there is nothing left to do until I have money.:(
But, nevertheless, I feel pretty damn good being able to say I put a days work into my own business, even if I didn't get that much accomplished - I got an XBox memory card ready to start modding XBoxes and found what I need to fix the two I have. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be getting a loan so I'll be able to start getting stuff to really get started. And good god one of the first things I think I'm going to get is a tool box of sorts because I have a collection of tools and bits and sockets and other stuff scattered with no real storage place for them all. Just a pile on my book shelf, a stuffed desk drawer, and other piles that have grown over the years from doing this stuff just for myself.

If you're ever elected Prime Minister, or if you win the Nobel Prize,
don't expect me to congratulate you with a handshake.

Now that I think about it, you'd be wise to refuse my hand too.

I'm not counting on it, but I really hoping that a couple people I know who work at Chrysler will spread the word they can hook people with modded electronics that allow you to do all sorts of stuff. Those Chrysler people love their toys, and even if they have a PS4, a PS3 that will play pretty much everything up to that will be a "cool toy" for them to have. Media sticks and boxes that will stream P2P movies, those will sell. And Wii Us for the kids and grand kids that will play everything from NES up to Wii U, yeah, I'm hoping milk those Chrysler workers for some money.
Also, I discovered the classic XBox does not have enough RAM to play all Amiga games. I tried to play Alien Breed 2, and it tells me I don't have enough RAM, which is really weird since the Amiga is way older than the XBox.
Also, my alcohol tolerance has really dropped.

An urgent meeting came up for my boss. I had to apologize to Richard Dyton for this and cancel his previous engagement. It sucks to be secretary.

Friday I'll be applying for a loan. And I really hope I get it because I have a PS3 that just needs a new hard drive, an XBox 360 that I need the "red ring of death" kit to fix, and the two XBoxes I mentioned yesterday which I a new disc drive for one and mod chip for the other. It'll cost about $200 for all that and controllers and wires, and some work to fix them, but I'll be able to make more than enough money to get my car to a shop to have a diagnostics so I can finally learn what's wrong with it and fix it.
