The Ten Commandments movie

Ask And You Will Receive
Coz it shows the binle- story for what it is?

Movies are a form of entertainment. The movie, The 10 Commandments, is very entertaining and compelling.

IMO, the producers, Cecil DeMills, of the movie acted out of love and devotion to the law giver. Having said that, they are in the entertainment business and not even claiming to be Biblical scholars.

Let’s appreciate the work of our brothers and sisters for what it is.

In the Cairo Museum in Egypt the granite 'Stela' is about Pharaoh Merneptah
'Israel is laid waste, and his seed is no more.'
Author Hershel Shanks uses the Merneptah 'Stele' to show that a people called Israel existed in 1212 BCE............
So, both are used: Stela and Stele.
An Archaeologist David Rohl wrote that some names of slaves leap straight out of the pages of the Bible.- Exodus 1:3-4,15
Absence of evidence is Not evidence of absence.
I am merely posting what the Bible teaches. Each chooses to accept or not.
To me the world scene today is evidence that what is written was and so the rest shall be.

You are agreeing at least that your best
ecidence is not evidenc at all.

As for the moldy cliche about absence of evidence, sometimes it applies,
sometimes it doesnt.

For the six day creation poof, flood
and exodus there is zero evidence
FOR them as being real.

Abundant sign that they are not.

Let's try absence of evidence being
proof of absence -
Someone says there is a cow
driving a car in the conference room!

Everyone rushes to see!

"Absence of evidence is not, ah,
evidence of absence"? Ha.

Being entertainment does not make
something wonderful.

I know movies are entertainment.
Unless they are propaganda, or or.

Note that roman gladiators were also
entrrtsinment

The movie is presented as historically
accurate, when it is total fiction.

And ftm, presents "god " as a psycho monster,
If, that is, a person gives it any thought.

If you don't think, then the atrocities are
just normal stuff.

Maybe there is, maybe there isn't a god.
If there is, it sure is not that one.

oh it was not......
Christians do tend to get angry when their stories are treated as stories. I can understand. I got angry when the Lord of the Rings series first came out. I kept seeing things that were not in the book. The difference was that I understood that my anger was irrational. As a major Tolkien fan I could not help it. They changed the story of the "scared texts". The fact is that one cannot retell a long story from a book in a movie and keep it interesting if one follows the book 100%. The movie is entertaining. Is it fact? No, but then neither was the Lord of the Ring or Exodus itself.

It took a while for us older Trekkies to embrace The Next Generation. And some that followed were never taken on.

I seriously doubt that sir, but at any rate, all is just opinion now. Jehovah prophesied, the nations will have to know I am Jehovah, we believe that prophecy will be fulfilled soon.
We Baha'is believe that prophecy has already been fulfilled and that this is the Day of God. For those who want to know about God, the information is readily available.

“It is evident that every age in which a Manifestation of God hath lived is divinely ordained, and may, in a sense, be characterized as God’s appointed Day. This Day, however, is unique, and is to be distinguished from those that have preceded it. The designation “Seal of the Prophets” fully revealeth its high station. The Prophetic Cycle hath, verily, ended. The Eternal Truth is now come. He hath lifted up the Ensign of Power, and is now shedding upon the world the unclouded splendor of His Revelation.”
Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 60

“In the Book of Isaiah it is written: “Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of His majesty.” No man that meditateth upon this verse can fail to recognize the greatness of this Cause, or doubt the exalted character of this Day—the Day of God Himself. This same verse is followed by these words: “And the Lord alone shall be exalted in that Day.” This is the Day which the Pen of the Most High hath glorified in all the holy Scriptures. There is no verse in them that doth not declare the glory of His holy Name, and no Book that doth not testify unto the loftiness of this most exalted theme. Were We to make mention of all that hath been revealed in these heavenly Books and holy Scriptures concerning this Revelation, this Tablet would assume impossible dimensions.” Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 13

Our cable went out a couple of days ago so my husband went looking for movies and pulled the movie The Ten Commandments (1956) off the bookcase, which is one of his favorite movies. We have seen the movie many times but it has been years since I watched it.

I soon realized that I am not the same person I was when I last watched it because I cried through practically the entire movie. I know I have said that I am not religiously inclined and that I don’t like God very much but after watching this movie I realized that is not really the case.

I never read the Torah or the Old Testament, only bits and pieces of it, but now I am inspired to read it all, as soon as I have time. I also want to say that I now believe that Judaism laid the foundation for the religions that came later – Christianity, Islam, and the Baha'i Faith.

I have a whole new appreciation for Moses and the Jewish people and Judaism after watching this movie, so I guess it was a good thing our cable went out. :)

If anyone of the Jewish faith or anyone else wants to weigh in on how accurately the movie depicts the Jewish history I would be very happy to hear from them. How much of the movie was just Hollywood? Call me naive, but I believe that those miracles could have happened by the power of God.

It is necessary for those of Muslim and Christian faiths to go to Jewish temples and learn the roots of their own religions.

Go, with love in your heart, not to get angry if their versions or interpretations of events differ from your own.

It already has. There are stories in the Bible that can only refute the Bible if one interprets them literally. An easy one to understand is the flood of Noah. The mere fact that ice floats refutes that tale.

You do realize that there was no ice correct?

I am sorry I called you sir in my last post maam. If the Kingdom is here now, Jehovah failed miserably. Nope, may that never be so.

Time has already revealed it because the book has been unsealed as per Daniel 12.

Yes it has maam. Great you recognize that, true knowledge has become abundant, and we now know the things that were shielded from Daniel. It is truly an amazing time we live in, the age of information.

Wrong. We can date the ice. As long as man has been here there has been ice caps.

That is secular history sir, similar to man being here for way longer than recorded Bible history. It did not rain prior to the flood, and the canopy of water that was released was a canopy that green-housed the entire earth. Seasons came with the opening of the atmosphere, and that is either true or false.

Frozen animals with fresh vegetation have been found in the last century seems to support our understanding on that.
