The Truth about the war in Ukraine

metis

aged ecumenical anthropologist
Historically when a president or government isn’t doing too well a war is used as a distraction. Biden is doing very poorly according to polls.
I know people are frustrated in general, and the long-standing rule of thumb is whomever is president gets the credit when things go right but the blame when things go wrong even if they had little or nothing to do with it.

What's happening in the Ukraine certainly is not Biden's fault, and the fact remains that Trump has continually praised Putin, including just this last weekend, and Putin is clearly a fascist.

How often have wars been created or used to feed the military-industrial complex?
I'll long been aware of Eisenhower's warning, and I remember when he said it, and I agreed with him both then and now. However, that has literally nothing to do with what's happening in the Ukraine.

To say something is not to make it true, even when the
conspiracy theory is proffered by a President.
Eisenhower was a politician, a species that's known for
saying things for political effect, regardless of accuracy
or truthfulness. Remember...this was the guy who OKed
the CIA coup in Iran (1953) that overthrew an elected
leader to install our puppet Shah. He also advocated
treating nuclear weapons as conventional weapons.
Perhaps he used the MIC conspiracy theory to have a
fall guy to blame if ever he started a war that went south.
He was far from a trustworthy guy.

As for Ukraine, for someone to claim that either Russian
or Ameristanian military contractors directed leaders to
start this war is more than ridiculous....it's not even wrong.
Every time I've asked MIC conspiracy theorists for proof,
all they offer is that some companies profit from making
materiel, & they lobby government. They've no names
of who controlled whom & when. All they have is bias
confirmation.
Why do this? It takes culpability from voters who elect
the war mongers. By blaming a boogeyman, they're
off the hook for choices they make.
