The two trees in the garden.

In the garden, they were 2 trees: The tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Gen 2:0, 2:17,3:3)
What did they symbolize ?

Proverbs 13:12 says,"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life." The tree of life is the most fundamental hope of man.
Revelation 22:14 says, "Blessed are those who wash their robes[of sin and evil]. that they may have the right to the tree of live and that they may enter the city by the gates".
The Tree of life was the hope for the Israelites of the old testament age. It is also the hope of the Christians of the New Testament. It was also the hope of Adam.
However Adam fell and God blocked his way to the Tree of life with a flaming sword (Gen 3:24) He became a false tree of life.
The tree of life in the Old testament (Prov 13:12) represents Jesus. The tree of life in the book of revelation (Rev 22:14) represents the returning Messiah.

If the Tree of Life symbolized Adam, it is likely that there woud be a tree symbolizing Eve.
In the Bible, Jesus at times is symbolically represented as a vine (Jn 15:5) or an olive tree (Rom 11:17). In a similar fashion Adam and Eve are represented by two trees

Jesus is the way the truth and the life. And so he is the only tree of life.
That is not a Scriptural position either. God posted cherubim in the Garden to keep man from returning to the Tree of Life (Genesis 3:24). If Jesus were the Tree of Life then it makes no sense that God would try and keep man from Jesus.

Where on this earth is this tree at the moment where nobody can find it?

Adam sins made it impossible for him to reach the Tree of Life which he should have become. He was chased from the garden.

Jesus is the second Adam, the new tree of life, the new vine that fallen men, descendants of the fallen Adam need to be engrafted to.

Jesus was born sinless and did not fall.

God does not want to keep us away from Jesus. I should have written "to keep Adam from returning" instead of man.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil, was the tree of the LAW.

Good vs bad,Right vs wrong,etc.
The law basically tells us the same thing.
The tree of knowledge of good and evil was a kind of tree that did not GIVE life, but took life.
Whoever would eat from it, it would take its life in order to sustain itself and live.
Hence....when adam and eve ate from it....they did eventually die. They would have lived forever. Man, they must have been AWESOME beings of life! So the tree of knowledge of good and evil has been sustaining itself with the living souls on this planet. But the souls here on this planet, have subsequently been drained of eternal life.
Anyway...the tree of life...was a different kind of tree. This tree would give you life if you ate from it, and not take your life to sustain itself.
The one tree, would suck the life out of you, the other would give you life.
The one tree requires you to sustain it. The other will sustain you.
If you are a branch on the tree of knowledge of good and evil, it will drain you of life. If you are connected to the tree of life, it will give you life.
Jesus died when he gave his life to the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and it no longer requires our life to sustain it. Jesus came to 'fullfill' the law..thereby fullfilling its hunger. Comments? Ideas?

Do you think a God of love would put a tree in the garden that had life sucking fruits in front of His children ?

Hold on, do not make all these faces !!!!

First can you agree that the Tree of Life symbolized the perfected Adam ? I tried to explain that point in my previous post.

In the Garden of Eden, God created Adam, and Eve to be his spouse. If in the midst of the garden, there was a tree to symbolize the man, isn't it likely that there would also be a tree symbolizing the woman ?

The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, which stood with the tree of Life (gen 2:9, 2:17, 3:3 is this tree.

We are not talking about two physical trees here but two people. Adam and Eve who are at the center and through whom God wants to fulfill His Ideal for the creation.

In order to understand clearly what the fruit represents, we must first determine the identity of the serpent.

How are you doing so far ?
One God, One creation, One ideal , 1 couple at the center of the garden ( Adam and Eve)symbolized by two trees..... and one Archangel.

Any comments ?

Is this supposed to have anything to do with Jesus being that Tree?

Maybe jesus isnt the tree of life. I have no problem with that. At least now you dont have to find the tree of life to prove that its not jesus.;)

He is the vine and we are the branches. There are many similarities between a living tree and the tree of life.

The tree of life...gives eternal life.
Jesus gives eternal life.

That's not a Scriptural position. If there were any evidence to that we would find it in Genesis. Assuming Adam and Eve had eaten of it then they would have had eternal life.

Also, according to Revelation the Tree of Life is in paradise (Rev. 2:7).

Tell me again...why did god protect the tree of life?

Genesis 3:22-24 KJV
"And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life."

So why sandy...when i said that the tree of life gives enternal life and that jesus gives eternal life did you tell me its not scriptural?

And if the tree of life is in paradise....where do you think the garden of eden is?

The assumtion is that before the eating of the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil that Adam and Eve were to have lived forever. This would mean they ate from the Tree of Life. Yet they died. The conclusion is that they need to eat of the Tree of Life continuously. Reveleation also speaks of the seasonal fruit of the Tree of Life which also hints at a continual need to eat from it.

It could also be argued (in the abstract) that forever and eternity are not the same. Forever is until the end of time and eternity is beyond time. Which brings into question, what is forever and ever?

Ok...so first you say..that jesus is NOT the tree of life.

Then you say...the tree is in the garden of eden and protected.

Then you say the tree is in paradise. But you dont know where the garden of eden is. And so nobody knows how the tree went from the garden of eden (genensis) into paradise.(revelations) ..... Or do you know?

Eternal life and living forever might not be the same thing you say. Ill discuss that with you if you keep it relevant to the tree of life.
