The Upcoming UK General Election

Sunak's announcement was a mess; he was talking about having plans for the future, but he couldn't even plan for the weather forecast and get an umbrella, or do it inside. It was pouring it down, he was soaked.
Starmer gave his response from a nice dry room.

I'm not sure if I can vote. We are registered as overseas voters but have not had any letters about it since brexit. I will email to check.

Not that two votes will make much difference but i would like a part, however small in kicking Sunak and co out of office

How does it work, Christine? If you did get a vote, which constituency would it be?

I won't be voting.

I have always voted since I was able, but this year I can't vote for any party on principle. I am not a left-winger/socialist and won't be voting for any party with this as an economic base; nor will I vote for a party that is radically socially left and was so wishy-washy on Brexit it was embarrassing. I'm a strong capitalist with fairly socially conservative beliefs and won't be voting as no party reflects even 6/10 of what I'd vote for. I'd consider myself to be voting for another disaster. I'm not a Neo-Liberal/Thatcherite, nor am I socialistic.

Whichever party we get, I hope they at least deal with the Israel-Palestine issue fairly, recognising that Israel has not been seen as the good guy for months now, and has been a dodgy ally at best. We ought recognise the Palestinian state.

They ought fix the housing crisis and homelessness problem, without taxing even more of my wages. There are plenty of 19th c. 2 up-2 downs that would work for small families, but no-one seems to be doing anything with these houses. Presumably as most of them are Northern, oh dear.

They ought fix the migrant boat issue.

They ought fix the crisis hitting the universities re funding, student accommodation and student poverty. For too long we relied on foreign students, which is in my view morally wrong.

They ought fix issues facing the North-East, where child poverty, suicide, drug abuse and so on are the worst in England.

But I will not be counting on any of these things.

I have not voted positively since about 2005; I've always voted against the party I least want.
So, this time round, the Tories have to go, in my constituency (Which has been Tory since before I was born) the only one who can beat them is Labour; so I will hold my nose and vote for them.
In the recent local elections, I voted Lib Dem. If we had PR, I'd probably vote Green but it'd depend on the candidates attitude to high speed rail.

I was only able to vote from 2015 at that election and have not had the best experience. Statistically younger people such as myself are becoming sceptical of democracy; it's not a good sign. I'm 28 and already have given up voting.

All that is very sensible! :)

Not a great look for our PM.
I think that it is pathetic that we as a nation don't have an indoor place for our PM to make such announcements, away from the rain when it's pelting it down, raining cats and dogs

During the pandemic they gave briefings from inside number 10, so why don't they normally just do that?

They do have; Johnson had it fitted out during the pandemic.
This was just down to bad planning, bad advice and not having a plan B. It sort of sums up the Tories at the moment.
As someone said to para-phrase Labour's old election rally song, "Things can only get wetter"

Let's just be grateful it made him look pathetic.

So, the man who was instrumental in getting the UK in the mess it is currently in (Despite never winning a parliamentary seat in 7 attempts) has decided not to go for an 8th defeat and go and help the grifter in chief on the other side of the pond.

I bet the BBC and other right wing outlets will be quick to give him air time though.

Good riddance.
