"'Atheism', if meaning lack of belief, yet not necessarily disbelief" Yes you're correct. For the same reason Theism doesn't refer to only one god.

Actually, atheism covers both lack of belief in and disbelief inNo, atheism is the dis-belief in deity, not the "absence". There is a difference
Not true. Atheism is the disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods. It includes those who disbelief AND those who merely lack belief. No, atheism is the dis-belief in deity, not the "absence". There is a difference
Your label has more than one meaning, and being it is only an anti'or 'a'concept, it therefore has no inherent meaning.I'm sorry if you don't like words having multiple meanings, but welcome to English semantics.
In the English language, you have hundreds of thousands of words that can have different meanings in different contexts.
No, atheism is just the absence of belief in deities. Atheists may believe in the non-existence of gods on top of that, but this isn't required to be an atheist. No, atheism is the dis-belief in deity, not the "absence". There is a difference
Yeah... that's insane. It asserts the actual existence of Zeus. It shows the person who argues such as no kind of atheist.I think theists don't realize they are atheist as well. If I ask a Christian if they believe in zues they would say no, so they are atheist in there belief of zues. The only difference between people who call themselves atheist and the majority of people who call themselves theists is atheists just go one god further.
Makes sense. I like it.The word atheist comes from the Greek root atheos meaning "without gods" dating back to 5th century bce. It is not modern day people just slapping an "a" in front of the word theist, but rather a word people have used since 500 yrs before the birth of Jesus to describe themselves as people who live without belief in a god.
