Canada rally against vaccine mandates blocks Ottawa as Trump praises protest
Excerped....
OTTAWA (Reuters) - Dozens of trucks and other vehicles blocked the downtown area of Ottawa for a second day after thousands descended on Canada's capital city on Saturday to protest against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

Trucks remained parked on the streets near parliament on Sunday, a day before lawmakers are due to resume work after the holiday break. Hundreds of protesters were out on Sunday, too. Some truckers said they will not leave until the mandate is overturned.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, speaking at a rally in Texas on Saturday, praised the Canadian protesters for "resisting bravely these lawless mandates", in a sign the politicization of the pandemic seen mostly south of the border has spread north.

In solidarity with the Ottawa rally, truckers and protesters have blocked a Canada-U.S. border crossing in southern Alberta, police said on Twitter.

In Ottawa, thousands gathered peacefully on Saturday and there were no arrests, though several incidents are now being investigated by police.

Just goes to show that misinformation has no bounds, once it is released.

It also goes to show that a tiny minority can create trouble through being vocal and disruptive rather than being reasonable.

Almost 78% of all eligible Canadians are fully vaccinated. That amounts to nearly 30 million people. The figure goes up to nearly 84%, or 32 million people, when including those who have had at least one dose.

Several thousand people are a drop in the ocean--thankfully, given the harmful nature of their position--when you put these numbers into perspective, but we're hearing so much about them because they're doing all they can to be disruptive and loud.

I'm saddened at the stupidity of my fellow Canadians. 90% of truckers are vaccinated. These 10% are protesting against the Canadian government's Border policies, but the US has the same policy. Call your dispatcher and ask for all your hauls to be within Canada. Unless dispatch is a random card toss, and dispatcher could do that. How hard is that?

They're playing right into the hands of the government, who happens to know, by basic math that 90% are supportive of the policy. And the opposition guys are half in favor of the trucker protest. Talk about not understanding math. Yeah, let's support 10% of the people and further tick off the 90%.

How much does it cost to not work, and drive across Canada with a Big Rig and park it for two weeks. Freedom, Baby! (Freedom to be a moron.)

Time to call in the army and arrest these hoseheads.

Anti-mandate does not mean anti-vax.

If you're asking if Canadians magically turned into Trump supporters just because Trump praised them, then the answer is... no, lol.

I hadn't even considered the reason.
But since you asked (sort of), I say
that Canuckistan has its share of
people who think like Trump.

Errr... 'tis other way 'round. It was Trump thinking like some people in Canuckistan.
Amazingly, not every idea begins with Trump. Sometimes, ideas come from other people.

I have to admit although I agree with the anti-mandate cause of the truckers; yet I don't like when protests shutdown the roads no matter whose side they are on.
They begin to look like BLM when they seek
attention by curbing the freedom of others.
