Hopefully this means they will lift all restrictions. It's obvious that Canadians have had enough.
At least they aren't throwing tea into the harbor.

Which Canadians? Last week, there were 1,000 to 5,000 protesters, and the peak number the week before that was 15,000.

By comparison, 32.2M Canadians have had at least one vaccine dose, and 30.3M are fully vaccinated. So for roughly every 2,000 fully vaccinated Canadians, there's one who has been to those protests... and for roughly every 2,133 Canadians who have had at least one dose, there's one protester.

That's when talking about the peak number of protesters; that figure goes up by anywhere from a factor of three to a factor of 15 if we look at this week's number of protesters.

If someone can't make their point without resorting to extreme hyperbole, it calls into question how fact-based their point actually is.

Hogwash. I don't know where you're getting those numbers but that is way low.

I posted the link there; it's from the BBC.

Other sources say the same thing:

Why truck drivers have shut down Canada's capital Ottawa over a vaccine mandate

Canadian police seize fuel at trucker Covid protest as court silences horns

And yes, it's quite low when one puts into perspective the percentage of protesters compared to the whole Canadian population, especially vaccinated ones (whether partially or fully). That's why I'm saying that "Canadians have had enough" is a hyperbolic and unfounded statement in light of the statistics.

And an injunction has been granted against the protesters blocking the Ambassador Bridge. They have until 7:00 to leave.

The local police have issued a notice to the protesters, and I'm seeing reports of police building up near the protest site.
Well...

- the injunction took effect at 7:00. Nothing happened.
- the provincial emergency measures took effect at midnight. Nothing happened.

Hmm.

Windsor Police just announced that they're starting enforcement action. From their Twitter feed:

The Windsor Police & its policing partners have commenced enforcement at and near the Ambassador Bridge. We urge all demonstrators to act lawfully & peacefully. Commuters are still being asked to avoid the areas affected by the demonstrations at this time.

Well the BBC, of course!
C'mon they raised 10 million in donations which GoFundMe refused to give. That's not a small percentage of the population responding.

A press release posted by Freedom Convoy group on Facebook on January 26 stated, "Although our initial convoy (is) estimated to be 1,600 trucks, that number significantly increased to 36,000 trucks in just a few days. It is now estimated that the number of heavy trucks heading to Ottawa is closer to 50,000." It is believed by authorities that the number is steadily increasing with trucks converging in on Ottawa from all sides and with no end in near sight.

Twitter us now showing the semis all packing up and leaving peacefully.
All the vehicles and most of the protestors are now gone from the Ambassador Bridge blockade. Looks like all the vehicle owners just complied when the police told them directly to leave (under threat of arrest, I'm sure).

Wibdsor Police are reporting on Twitter that there haven't been any arrests (yet), but there's a small group of protestors remaining in an increasingly smaller area as the police cordon gets tighter.

Which population, though? ;)

All indications are that a lot of those GoFundMe donations came from the US.

GoFundMe allows donations from places outside Canada. Also, since there are naturally going to be major disparities in the donated amount due to differences in donors' wealth, we can't assume that the amount of donated money necessarily reflects the number of donors: just one person could donate $10,000 and another only $10.

There aren't any indications from any reputable sources that the number of protesting truckers is anywhere near 50,000, and even if that were true, 50,000 would still a mere blip compared to the 30M-something fully vaccinated Canadians.
