Please allow me to preface this by saying I'm Canadian, and I am genuinely trying to get some feedback from you Yankee Doodles.
It seems to me that Trump has an actual historic opportunity tonight. After surviving the assassination attempt, and naming JD Vance as his VP, he can come out on stage and say something like "Look, we may disagree about some little stuff, but we all agree on the big stuff. I want to take America to the next level, to better the country for all of us, a thousand points of light, blah blah, blah...." and capture the entire centrist vote. After what happened Saturday, I believe an approach like this would be a mortal lock in Canada, especially if the opponent looked as weak as Biden has lately. I guess I wonder, can Trump speak like that and appease his own support, and would it work?
