Fair enough.
Imagine an American civil engineer working in an Islamic country, like my English next door neighbour, and his wife and kids are with him there, andh woke up this morning to find that the mid East is about to go besrk after their commander got blown up by Baghdad airport. Imagine that was you or me. The US has put its folks in grave danger for a political yard.

I know what you mean. I've had family members stationed over there, and I worry about them as well. But it seems it's always a risk for Americans to travel anywhere in the world.

Skanky Old Mongrel!
So Iranian backed militias didn't commit genocide in Syria and replace populations with Shia Muslims? Your ignorance doesn't mean someone else is wrong.

If the US intended to nail bad folks who did bad things in Syria, President Assad would be hiding for each second of every day. Nah!

The Iranians were in combat against ISIS together with US and other forces. And the Iranian forces were combating the Taliban (years before) with US forces.

And how anybody could believe that US citizens in the Mid and Far East are safer today than yesterday is just amazing.

President Trump has been raising contention with Iran ever since he tore up the treaty, an act which shocked European nations. If this turns ugly then you know where to look .......

Well, the darkest backwaters of the Congo would most likely be as safe as Disneyland when compared with the Middle-East after today. And not one American got the slightest warning that this would happen. US (and other European/Western) citizens need to get clear, I reckon.

Didn't the Japanese sneak attack Pearl Harbour before they declared war?
Hey, another stupid tu quopque. Are you suggesting that America shouldn't have responded to the Pearl Harbour attack the way it did? Otherwise your knee jerk tu quoque is a pretty farcical ""own goal".

But who's surprised at a trumpette not thinking beyond the immediate "oh yeah, well what about..." before opening his mouth and craming his foot in.

Hillary Clinton,
Who? She's in the long ago past. Why are you even digging her name up?
Bottom line, Iran committed genocide in Syria

Bottom lines:
Hussain gassed the kurds
Hussain gassed the Iranians
Iraqi Shiites and Sunnis slaughtered each other

The whole area is a friggin mess. Instead of taking out the general we should have drone-striked the embassy attackers.

Let's just get out and take with us any Christians or Kurds or whatever and then let the Muslims slaughter each other.

Against someone who was a uniformed soldier of a sovereign state YOU WERE AT WAR WITH. Kind of an important distinction.
Do you consider the US Commander in Chief "a uniformed soldier of a sovereign state"?

How about the Secy of Defense?

I'm willing to bet the Iranians consider them active targets.

.
sure, but what's your point? Iran a. hasn't killed either of them, and b. and I cannot stress this enough, IRAN IS NOT AT WAR WITH THE US.
I'm willing to bet the Iranians consider them active targets
Any evidence that Iran is targeting any US assets at all? The US is the only country unilaterally attacking anyone in this context.

Russia has an alliance with Syria. You want WW3 and ***** if the US does not bite.

The enemy of my enemy is not my friend.

Iran is shooting down drones in international water, attacking facilities in KSA, seizing vessels in international waters. Of course it is all the US's fault for Iranian actions right. Try again.

Trump most certainly did start this.

Wrong. See my post above and try again.

The Obama administration had put the USA and Iran on a path towards peace. Trump restarted the conflict.

Wrong. Obama was conned, nothing more. Iran is on record with violations of even Obama's deal before the ink dried not to mention other real treaties it violated.

An old conflict, and while lots of Americans simply don't know the history the Iranians do.
Tom

Nor do you know history beyond what one side tells you.

Soleymani was a so good man.

He battled with ISIS until their destruction.

May God bless him.

From the BBC:

"After becoming commander of the Quds Force in 1998, Soleimani attempted to extend Iran's influence in the Middle East by carrying out covert operations, providing arms to allies and developing networks of militias loyal to Iran.

Over the course of his career he is believed to have aided Shia Muslim and Kurdish groups in Iraq fighting against former dictator Saddam Hussein as well as other groups in the region including the Shia militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon and Islamist organisation Hamas in the Palestinian territories.

After the US invaded Iraq in 2003 he began directing militant groups to carry out attacks against US troops and bases, killing hundreds.

He is also widely credited with finding a strategy for Bashar al-Assad to respond to the armed uprising against him that began in 2011. Iranian assistance along with Russian air support helped turn the tide against rebel forces and in the Syrian government's favour, allowing it to recapture key cities and towns."
Are you OK with his support of Assad?
