There doesn't need to be "conservative outlets vs. liberal news outlets" in the mainstream narrative. If the ONLY sources one can depend on are significantly biased, then something is definitely wrong.
Again, I agree with the basis of what you're saying. But what you're asking for is an ideal of journalism and of the "media" that has never existed.
Even our best attempts at eliminating bias are not without faults.
My challenge of naming a completely unbiased media outlet still stands. (I'll bet money you can't do it. - and that will have nothing to do with your effort, intelligence, etc...)
The sooner we (as a whole) realize this, the sooner we can stop having petty conversations about which news sources leans which direction and yaddah, yaddah, yaddah...as if it makes any difference.
Media is comprehensive. It's not singular. Trump's claim that he is "at war with the media" is really nonsensical. He's attempting to throw away a bowl of oatmeal one oat at a time... it's stupid.
Micromanaging has worked for him in many areas of his life - but it's not going to work as POTUS.
