Trump nominates pseudo-science promoter Dr. Oz

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
You don't post random facts.
They all serve a purpose.
Taking the focus off of Ozzie, & making
it about criticizing Democrats is
classic whataboutism...a tool to defend
the one on whom focus is diverted.
You are transparent.
(But not saying you're a trans parent.)
If you run a search on me asking Democrats about "whataboutism" you will find that I know what it is. You will also find that on this website, it is generally only acknowledged one way.

So no need to lecture me.

No, it was also applied to misinformation and true information that was censored such as the Russian collusion and hunter laptop hoaxes.
Oh. You are talking about a voluntary thing the government asked of private social media companies to avoid spreading misinformation. It’s all legal. The social media companies are allowed to censor any information they want.

I never defended a right to threaten anyone. See above. And as far as the left goes, look on X, there are lots of people advocating to assasinate Trump, leaving their husbands and ending relationships etc. all because people voted for Trump, so the people on the left are more civil has no merit, also remember the left burning down cities in 2020?
I don’t use X. And if there are any death threats against anyone it should be removed and reported. There are many liberals and conservatives afraid of what an unethical Trump government is going to do. His picks are often unqualified and devoted to breach the norms of government and duty. Cash Patel had committed to going after Trump critics. How does that serve the American people?

I 100% agree.

Taking the focus off of the subject, & making it about criticizing something else is classic whataboutism.

Every thread about Biden or Harris where Trump or Vance were brought up is/was whataboutism.

Every thread about Trump or Vance where Biden or Harris were brought up is/was whataboutism.

Evidently whataboutism thrives

Are you concerned about Oz's
advocating astrology as a
medical tool?
I don't have enough data to support or reject.
I don't know what he really said - I don't follow or watch him.

We may come to know in our life time - we may not.

We do know that - the Sun & Moon's gravitational pull causes - High tide, low tide (Spring tides, Neap tides, Perigean tides).

In other words - the moon's gravitational pull affects the entire Earth, but because water is less dense than land, the tides are more noticeable.
So, since it affects the entire earth - in some small scale - it could have an effect on human body. Could be insignificant - maybe there is something there to look into. We don't know.

So, why would you think the rest of celestial bodies won't have some effect too?

Does Microwave change the taste of food? I think it does.
Will we find out if using Microwave is bad and how bad soon. I don't know yet and so I use it as needed.

Did folks years ago knew asbestos dust is bad for you or your lungs? We found out. Didn't we?

We don't know many things. No harm in trying to find out. Don't go against someone who is trying to find out.

We're talking about Dr. Oz because he was a TV celebrity that Trump thinks will be loyal to him.
How do you know what Trump thinks?

Is it bad to have someone behind you or against you?
How do you get the job done more effectively?
Who needs a nagging voice around them all the time when you are trying to accomplish something?

Trump thinks of himself first and foremost, and of others in terms of how they can help him/express their loyalty to him.
This is apparent in his speech and behaviour.

Ok. Trump expert!
You have four years to readjust your opinion.
Trump's one big fault is - he likes to be in front of the mic.
When you speak a lot - you give folks like you to misrepresent/ misinterpret what he is saying.;)
Watch what he does. Stop nit picking.
Actions speak louder than words.

I've yet to meet one.

Why do you dismiss my opinion so quickly?

This was in response to, "What's understandable about not wanting them there, exactly? And what's understandable in the particular situation under discussion? Should this transwoman - who identifies and presents as a woman - be using the men's room? That's supposed to be the more acceptable option, how?"

So, no answer to any of my questions.

Great, then what's the problem again?
Some women don't feel safe. The number of attacks is not zero.

If Tump was taking these nominations seriously there would be fewer threads. Most of his picks are unqualified tv personalities. It invites ridicle and criticism. Look how you MAGAs don't even try to defend any of them.
It's actually quite interesting that so many of his picks for important posts are TV & media "personalities." As someone unaccustomed to reading more than 7 words in succession, and who doesn't like boring briefing sessions (which, though "brief" are still too long for him without some intervening entertainment), where else would he find out about people and their supposed "expertise?"

Okay oblivious person.

I've already had several decades to "readjust" my opinion. That's where it came from in the first place. ;)
Trump's one big fault is - he likes to be in front of the mic.
Among many, many others.
When you speak a lot - you give folks like you to misrepresent/ misinterpret what he is saying.;)
Show me where I've misrepresented him anywhere.

Have you completely forgotten the first time he was President? I haven't. You don't remember him firing supposedly disloyal (Jeff Sessions comes straight to mind) people in his administration and throwing them under the bus repeatedly, over Twitter? I do. He seems to think this whole this is just some big reality show of which he's the star.
Watch what he does. Stop nit picking.
Actions speak louder than words.
Trump's actions match his words. They're both horrendous and self-centred.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I'm a woman and I'm perfectly comfortable having transwomen in the bathroom with me. Let's face facts, we've probably already done so without our knowledge on a few occasions. I've done so knowingly, on more than one occasion. I have no problem sharing a washroom with a transwoman and I have and will continue to do so. What's the big fear, exactly?

What's understandable about not wanting them there, exactly? And what's understandable in the particular situation under discussion?
Should this transwoman - who identifies and presents as a woman - be using the men's room? That's supposed to be the more acceptable option, how?

By the way, women's washrooms already have private stalls. Not sure if men are aware of this.
How do you dress women who do feel uncomfortable with a trans woman in the bathroom?

It's a question of whose world revolves around whom and not everybody wants to be forced to accept a certain way because I know a lot of women who would not want a person still with a penis walking around in their private space at all.

Personally I think a great solution would be just to make a third accommodation specifically for Trans people.
