Trump ordered to pay nearly 355 million in NY fraud case.

It remains unclear how he can come up with this amount. He couldn’t pay the $99 million himself.
Perhaps he was trying to save up money for the bigger case. Better to buy a bond for the cheaper case if he could manage a deal on the big one. And please note, he claims to have enough money. He has as of yet to pay it.

Lawfare is quite a political weapon.
It would only be lawfare if the charges were trumped up. Grand juries thought that he should be indicted, and courtroom juries will convict him. The public has seen enough evidence already to conclude guilt. This is no different than when Gotti went on trial. There was never any doubt that he was guilty, just whether the prosecutors could get a guilty verdict. The same is true for Manson and OJ Simpson.

It's also not election interference. Trump is free to run, which is why he is running. Nobody is preventing anybody who wants to vote for him from doing so. He is free to run ads. He is free to campaign personally in his free time. He will remain free to run even if he goes to prison before election day, at which time almost all of his time will be free time except for maybe a little time doing his mopping detail or working the prison kitchen.

So there is no election interference. Besides, his participation is not required for there to be a free and fair election.

Are you aware that his handlers have already begun sequestering him from the media, and that he presently has zero campaign events scheduled? Trump, the man who has victimized the country and just about everybody who has trusted him is just playing the victim card. Don't weep for him.

And we should contrast that with all the drama on the Republican side about finding some crime to charge Biden and family members with any criminal behavior at all. Every effort has failed. With Donald Trump, the story has been the exact opposite, because his criminal behavior has been clear to everyone, including Trump. The man knows he is guilty, so he keeps insisting that his former status as President confers immunity on him for everything. His lawyer even argued that he couldn't be prosecuted for murdering political opponents unless he had first been impeached by Congress. I'm sure that they aren't thinking Biden has that kind of immunity now.

And yet he claims on Truth Social that he has $500M in cash. So he's lying to someone, he's either lying to the court that he doesn't have that much cash or he's lying to his delusional followers that he does.
That's the reputation he has built. He lies all the time, and everyone knows it. No one takes him seriously, except his followers who are completely irrational where it comes to Trump. He can seriously be sworn in to testify and the claim that he has $500 million be questioned, and he will lie again in some way that can be explained away in some delusional way. He's like a mentally ill person that everyone knows is mentally ill, so can't be held responsible for bad things he says and does. But Trump does know what he's doing because he is an excellent criminal.

That's actually good, if you think about it. Everyone could see that James was looking forward to seizing Trump's properties. An impartial AG shouldn't have that appearance but o seem fair and impartial. It looks like even the appeals court noticed that. If she would have started seizing his properties, that would be a red flag for other businesses in New York. It would be a sign that it's time for them to leave before they become the next target. But if the narrative is that they aren't being targeted, and only Trump is, then the fact that this whole thing is a witch hunt as Trump always says, would become blindingly obvious.
Only if those other businesses are also committing fraud.

Your response above reminds me that when Bonnie & Clyde were on their rampage killing people, many cheered them on.
I was just reading about these two as the movie was just broadcast and I was fact checking.

The public did root them on, until near their end when they shot and killed two police officers on Easter Sunday. That seemed to be a breaking point for the public. I thought it was odd that so many others had been killed but there was a breaking point.

It seems the "never Trumpers" and Hally supporters have reached theirs.

There was no impropriety or appearance of impropriety there except perhaps in the eyes of those who resent Trump being held accountable for his many felonies. Trump was simply caught red-handed after Cohen ratted him out and essentially told the AG where the "bodies" could be found. That's why he's testifying in the hush money trial next month. He and Mary Trump have the greatest insight into Trump's character and are the best predictors of what he will do and how he thinks, and to that that Cohen knows the facts and details of the bank and tax fraud.

Opinions to the contrary come from Trump supporters, who, as I said, have no interest in whether Trump committed crimes and object to him being prosecuted for the crimes he has committed. We expect them ALWAYS to call these indictments political, having originated with Biden to hobble Trump's chances in the 2024 election, election interference, and a witch hunt. Never mind that none of that is correct. So, opinions form that contingent have no meaning, since they would be expected whatever the facts might be.

Witch hunt? It's a felon hunt, and I think the various prosecutors getting the four Trump indictments found a few future felons, most notably Trump.

What the congressional Republicans do is witch hunting. They persecuted both Clintons (Monica, Benghazi), and now Biden with their embarrassing attempt to get Biden impeached as a favor to Trump, who is as insanely jealous of Biden as he was of Obama. That's what weaponizing the government, partisan politics, "lawfare" (vexatious litigation), and witch hunts look like. They're all smoke and no fire, or as the Texans like to say, all hat, no cattle.

But Trump will be going to prison, and justly so.

And yet Haley is done.
Looks they reached their end, if that's what you meant.

The White House may often seem like a prison, needing to get permission from Secret Service to even go outside.

So, Trump should be automatically forgiven of any illegal antics he may have done? A simple "yes" or "no" answer would be good for starters.
I was responding concerning them going after other business owners in New York.
