Unemployment solutions

Replace 'robots' with 'steam engines' and it's already been done.

The difference being that steam engines ended up creating more jobs than they cost. Robots are more likely to create jobs for more robots.

I'm old school.....peep holes.
Peep holes my foot. You stand right outside my window and don't even bother to try to hide yourself. Oh, and I'd appreciate it if you'd stop holding the ladder for @Wirey to peer into my bathroom window while I'm in the shower. Rather disturbing really. Just let him fall.

A window is a kind of peep hole.

From your source:
Cost of living in Boise is 31.98% lower than in New York Our estimator (with default settings) estimate monthly expenses for a single person at 775.15$ and for four person family at 2,785.42$ (without rent).

Notice, it clearly states "without rent."
Got it, guess my old eyes missed it or more likely just passed over it. Thanks for the update.

I would love to see a universal 4 day 10 hour workday with 3 days off.

I'm thinking more like a 32 hour work week being full time. France tried something similar but they couldn't go it alone.

Obviously it would have to be implemented widely (which is why it probably will never happen) and over time but as technology advances this only makes sense. It probably should have been done a while ago.

Every time you read about "efficiency increasing" they aren't talking about the workforce working faster, they are talking about technology improving workflow. My company employs 10 engineers instead of 40 draftsmen and 10 engineers 30 years ago... all thanks to CAD. Shops around the world are more efficient thanks to better, faster tooling and automated welding.

Henry Ford had a good idea, which was to pay his workers a high enough wage that allowed them to purchase his cars, which meant he sold more cars.
I think instant profits has a negative effect on economics.

Kill off any who are unemployed who are otherwise able to work, but are too busy sitting on their asses.
That really isn't a viable solution, and it would probably reduce unemployment maybe by one or two percent, if even that much. The poor and unemployed are not the lazy leeches people like to think we are.
