It's quite interesting to see how the other numbers in relation to your 'in june', are a lot further apart from 1st to 2nd. Hinduism is WAY up there all alone compared to where the Mahayana stood to the others. What do you feel shifted if you can place it? ie. Did this surprise you?

Hello SageTree
Thanks for your interest. Yes, it was a surprise as this time I recall being much more single minded in the approach that God is universal and nothing else really matters. Previously I think I gave higher value to the other questions in general. I am sure there can only be a limited number of options which swing the results. :)

Well then it's cool that Mayahana came out on top since I feel that is how I got myself in that position....

I'm also a practitioner. :D

These are the last 4 times I've taken this over 3 years...... This might not be the best tool to accurately show you what you believe, and it's always interesting when what people identify with isn't the top few slots. It's hard to say how and who wrote this, and I'm sure there is man poss. errors in the narrow and wide view of things.

But, I suppose it's still a 'control' in a way, for what it's worth, so it's fun to see how it changed and how things shift, taking it for what it is. If nothing else, it gets me reading for a while, which is always good.

First time, reading oldest to newest, Theravada is on top and the UU's so low.

1. Mahayana Buddhism (100%) Unitarian Universalism (100% Mahayana Buddhism(100%) Theravada Buddhism (100%)

*Mahayana Buddhism (100%)
switched 100% spots with Theravada.. over all 4 time in #1 match and is the only label with that distinguishable note...

2. Unitarian Universalism (99%) Theravada Buddhism (94%) Theravada Buddhism (94%) Mahayana Buddhism (99%)

*Theravada Buddhism
(93%) dropped a rank and 7%...

3. Hinduism (98%) Mahayana Buddhism (90%) Unitarian Universalism (93%) Neo-Pagan (85%)

*Neo-Pagan (92%) tied highest % match per the label, up 7% from last time in same rank.

4. Neo-Pagan (97%) Liberal Quakers (83%) Neo-Pagan (92%) Unitarian Universalism (81%)

*Unitarian Universalism
(91%) UP %-age a fair deal, yet tied for lowest rank/label again...

5. Liberal Quakers (97%) Neo-Pagan (79%) Liberal Quakers (90%) Liberal Quakers (80%)

*New Age
(83%) Second lowest %-age match with this label, up two ranks thought.

6. New Age (96%) New Age (75%) New Age (87%) Jainism (78%)

*Jainism(79%) up 1% highest %-age tied with last time in rank, constantly moving up.

7. Theravada Buddhism (86%) Secular Humanism (72%) Taoism (80%) New Age (77%)

*Hinduism (76%) Move up in rank 2, 2nd highest %-age.....

8. New Thought (81%) )Taoism (69%) Jainism (77%) Taoism (76%)

Liberal Quakers
(75%) fell 3 ranks, lowest %-age yet and rank yet....

9. Jainism (74%) Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (68%) Hinduism (72%) Hinduism (64%)

*Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (62%) a solid showing in the 9-10 spot, lowest %-age, which is pretty funny since I've been attending an Anglican Mass for 3 months, lol...... and I really like it.

10. Taoism (74%) Jainism (66%) Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (71%) Sikhism (61%)

*Secular Humanism (58%) down from 7th, the second time I took the test.

It seems 'New Age' and 'Liberal Quaker are the most consistent and happened 3 times on lines 5 and 6. After that Mahayana, Theravada and Neo-Pagan happen two times on lines 1,2 and 4.

I personally identify the Buddhist labels as well do I feel the Pagan designation describes the mystery and interconnectedness with the world. My Wife is a practicing pagan and she conversely feels the language and approach in Buddhism. Not sure what New Age specifically is.... but coming from a Christian up bringing, but realizing how I touch upon that language now is certainly more in that mystic way that would be apparent in the Way Quakers Know. It seems like people get Unitarian a lot of the time on this quiz so I'd like to state for the record I do and have attended regularly UU churches... heh.. but I suppose my label already says that lol. I met lots of Quakers there who saw little or no difference, that is, they were comfortable at either, as I would have to add are similar in experience from attending Quaker meetings.

* means newest result.

Taoism is noticeably missing.

Hi SageTree
Interesting, there must be something significantly Buddhist about your thought. Do you have any inclination what question might be influencing that. Typically I would guess it is the initial questions on God, but then I am theist and I too came out Mahayana once. mmm :)

Probably more about the Connections to the Expressions of how our life finds meaning, pacifism probably gives it a few points. Dunno. I was practicing Buddhism well before I found out what the quiz was. I've answered this with a liberal interpretation of God and worked closer to seeing my beliefs in that expression of language and still found myself with Mahayana in my top 3.

Unitarianism and Liberal Quaker certainly could encompass and accept my definition of God as well, where I to work within that language of Expression.

I was born and raise Methodist and have attended UU, Quaker and Anglican Churches in my day. I once heard a monk say that a man came to ask a teacher to take his refuges and the teacher sent him home saying he must understand his birth faith, which was Christianity. That wasn't what I wanted to hear after practicing Buddhism for 4 years, however I began to investigate and remember the mystic way I felt when I was a child and the linkages in the language flowed easily together in my mind.

I don't know if I worship God persay, and perhaps Advaita Vedanta comes closest to my idea of Supreme Being or The Supreme way of Being, that is, with my twist.

I can connect through a Christian worship, prayer at a Mosque, Unify with the UUs and sit with the regular Buddhist group. I'm a spiritual counselor at a Christian drop in Centre. Yet through all this I feel that Buddhism explains how I feel about life, and pushes me to understanding and look more deeply, which is surely the catalyst to the closeness I feel with these new and old paths in my life.

I could talk much more about the funny things I've borrowed as mindfulness 'bells', but for now I'll just let that stand.

The test for me is just a fun thing to good around with, but don't feel it's irrelevant for looking at either, even if it just gets me talking like I am now. A little more processing a little more distilling.

Hi SageTree
You are involved in a lot! :)
In my experience, once the concept of Advaita Vedanta is grasped and accepted there is little scope for labels and religions as all is a part of the whole. I will stop here or risk changing the topic :)

Mahayana Buddhism - 84%
Baha'i Faith - 76%

Bottom 5 were Roman Catholic, Mormon, Conservative Christian, Christian Science, and Jehovah's Witness.

This.

It says I'm Jewish for some reason.

The way I feel it's to be read it that 'You have a lot in common with Judaism' ,not 'You are a Jew' or that 'you should practice Judaism'.....

food for thought in reading results.

I take that test from time to time, just for fun. I have for years. Every time I take it, without fail, Mahayana Buddhism has always been on the top, and Theravada Buddhism has always been either second or third. What's funny, is that those are the results I got for a few years as a Christian, even before I converted to Buddhism.

Pretty cool :) Funny how things work out like that.

ZenZero a member on the boards talks about evolution of religions in our life rather than conversion, and I really like that idea, as it touches my own life. Dunno why, but I felt like sharing this when I read it. I'm glad you have a Path you connect with, and I didn't mean to take away from that :D
