If they forbid this guy for sinning, why aren't they denying everyone access? They always say we are all sinners. Anything less is hypocritical.

It's the same as a pro-abortion ambassador. Yes, we all sin but the issue is that he's living in sin, to put it one way. The article even mentions the Vatican rejecting pro-abortion candidates and another one that was divorced and living with his girlfriend. You have to view it from their viewpoint in order to understand it.
Is the guy asking the Pope to marry him and his partner or even recognize their marriage? Is he married? Since the answer to these questions is no, what on earth does gay marriage have to do with this?

How would they know whether he is participating in sodomy or whether he wants to "marry anyone later on"? That is mere speculation that they seem to only use when discussing homosexuality.

That couldn't be the case, as they would have absolutely no legitimate reason not to trust him. They know next to nothing about him other than his professional career.
