I'm a big believer in market solutions; vegetarianism would be best implemented by making meat substitutes identical or superior to meat products in texture/taste, at lower prices.

Question - out of curiosity - what are hunter-gatherer tribes around the world supposed to do with a global vegetarian decree?
And the native cultures in the Arctic tundra?
Are we to insist on banishing their hunting practices that provide food, clothing, and fuel for them?
By my estimation, a combination of local produce, locally raised animals, and sustainable hunting and fishing practices for most people would optimize our use of the environment we're in.
I think is not reasonable to put on the same plate the people who need to do so to survive and those who do not, because it is not the same at all.

I find it curious. It´s not like it´s hard to understand the validity of the analogy. Feeling offended is a weak refuge more often than not IMHO.
