Would violence really be expected and/or necessary in this instance? Or should Justice be able to play it's hand?

“If a thing like that happened, I would have no prohibition against running,” Trump said in an interview with conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt. “I think if it happened, I think you’d have problems in this country the likes of which perhaps we’ve never seen before. I don’t think the people of the United States would stand for it.”

Hewitt asked Trump what he meant by “problems.”

“I think they’d have big problems. Big problems. I just don’t think they’d stand for it. They will not sit still and stand for this ultimate of hoaxes,” Trump said.

“That’s not inciting. I’m just saying what my opinion is,” Trump said. “I don’t think the people of this country would stand for it.”

"Fascism seeks to maintain power regardless of societal norms."

What made wide swaths of America's backward backwater bumpkins so receptive to something so antithetical to what America was actually supposed to stand for? Yet ironically they're the ones who scream the loudest about patriotism and freedom.

I wish he was talking about the wholesale bribery and corruption of our state and federal legislatures, and the deliberate appointing of biased and incompetent judges instead of just blowing a big ego-fart about himself. I wish THAT was what he though the American people wouldn't stand for any longer, and were willing to fight in the streets to put a stop to it, if they had to. But no. It's just Trump talking about Trump. Literally the only thing he thinks or cares about.

America has never stood for liberty.

It was founded on slavery and expanded itself through genocide, and all the landmarks along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River called "Loyalist ____" stand in witness of how political dissent wasn't tolerated right from the beginning.

When these bumpkins, mainly Evangelicals, are raised thinking that the more they want something to be true, the more likely that thing is actually true, then they are primed for this sort of propaganda. That is why they also fall for MLMs and conspiracy theories more than other groups. "If it feels right or is emotionally satisfying, then it must be right," is the basis for Evangelical faith, so why wouldn't they extend that to the rest of their epistemology?

It's a real problem, and I don't know how we can fix it. If nothing else, rioters who come out for Trump will make themselves easy to arrest and lock up, so the rest of us are safer.

Sure, they will. They'll have no choice. A few may act out and be shot or arrested as with the insurrection, but the rest will likely 'stand down and stand back.' They've already seen what going to bat for him gets one.

And when the indictments start rolling in, he'll discover just how powerless and alone he is.

He doesn't seem to have much of a sense of what's happening to him. From the Hewitt interview, he seems to think that the purpose of indicting him is to keep him from running again. And his comment after the August 8 search and seizure about the FBI trying to make it look like he left papers all over the floor indicates that he doesn't know what the crime was there. Also, insisting on a special master on executive privilege grounds, as if state secrets were his secrets that deserve to be kept secret from the DOJ, who had already had to two weeks to review them and all other documents.

I know its frustrating, but Liberal are Americans too and we need to have some tolerance for their failure to be informed.

As far as Trump's "mob boss" threats go, I want justice to be served. Indict him and let a jury hear the evidence.
