What about music in worship?

I have seen evidence of their being music in worship in the law of Moses, but what about today? Their are no occurrences of this in the New Testament. Considering we live under the New Law, are we authorized to use instruments in worship? Considering we are no to add or delete from the word Revelation 22:18-20, I assume not... thoughts?

Why would your god randomly ban music?

You might too if your kid kept you up all hours of the night playing his "music."

Certainly not forbidden. Easy solution to this. If you like mmusic in worship then do it. If you don't then don't. I seriously doubt the creator of the universe gets hung up on such silliness.

Be careful playing the role of God and saying what he will and wont do... You may not have thought he would have upheld the strict instructions during the Passover, but he did. You may not have thought that God would have been serious when he did not want Nadab and Abihu to offer strange fire, but we see what happened to them. Leviticus 10:1-3 Many other examples show that God is serious about his commands, so what makes the manner in which we worship him any different. After all he is the same God as he was during those times. Hebrews 13:8. We don't have permission to use instruments, as we don't have permission to use cheeseburgers and coke on the communion... You get what I'm saying? As well, emotion should not be used when discussing manner of worship. John 4:24 Jeremiah 17:9-10

Where is worship defined?
Read 1 Corinthian 11:17 and stop at the end of 1 Corinthians 14 for the whole context, these acts are singing, praying, teaching, and the lords supper. We are also commanded to give as well, but it is not mentioned in this context. Giving is mentioned in 2 Corinthians 9:7. I did this to give you a text where theses acts are found in the same context. You can find these acts mentioned individually in different contexts.

If music is used to express love and gratitude to God, it's an example of fulfillment of the law. Love is fulfillment of the law.

This sounds good on the surface, but this isn't the case. When God commands us to worship him in a certain way, we are to follow everything he says and exclude everything he didn't say. Leviticus 10:1-3 describes how Nadab and Abihu thought they would please God with incense that God had not commended. God did not exclude this incense, but he didn't include it either. This proved to be a crucial mistake. As I said, God is serious when he sets boundaries and tells us how we are to worship him. Sometimes the exclusion of a certain thing is just as important as an inclusion of a certain thing.

There's no mention of excluding musical instruments in praise and worship in the NT. This is a non issue.
But God is very clear when he says that we are not to add or take away from his book... Revelation 22:18-20 If the Bible was a book of exclusion, it would be the longest book known to man. Their is only mention of using your voice to praise God in worship, no mention of instruments in the new testament.

The word 'Worship' does not appear in that definition, so I think there is no such definition in the text. Based upon your selected text: you presume or assume that worship is singing, communion, prophecy, etc. It is not a conclusive text on the subject.

I don't consider this the best example as using fire in this way was established as forbidden.

I don't participate in the Mass anymore....
but I remember the Latin as sung by the priest

I recall a soothing feel....even though a lack of translation

the catch phrase is intended for the book of Revelation
not the entire bible

and as we know......the bulk of the bible has been .....reworked

My belief is expressed by a button I have "God created music so people can pray without words."

Beyond that slogan, music can uplift or degrade. And sometimes it's just for fun. And fun can be uplifting.
