hey Syo,
WHY ?
Mortality is the concept of one being alive ? Isn't it ?
Soooo...the answer is obvious because of `God's` wishes, isn't it ?
Sin and you will sometime die, what fruit was that ?
But...all `spirits` are eternal, in some form, sans cognizance.
What comes in, goes out, right to Stuff and the Cosmos.
Or right to Nirvana, and to the arms of Brahma.
Did Brahma have arms, could he lick his elbows ?
There's no such thing as immortality, or permanent death.
The spirits are everywhere, coming and going.

Magic? Immortality or a lifespan that spreads across eons?? Supreme intelligence? master over other life forms, natural element(s)? I am probably missing some feel free to fill in the blanks I missed.

Can technology grant some of these characteristics? Or would technology exclude one a status of being a god or god like?

Say an alien race decided to openly visit this world, we were able to establish communication with them and found them to have an avg lifespan of 10-35,000 of our years, were vastly more intelligent, had technology that granted them the ability to forge worlds, and manipulate nature at a whim, would they not be gods?

Just what characteristics would such a being need to possess for you to grant them "god status?"
Almighty......

self explanatory really....
bigger, faster, stronger, more intelligent and greatly experienced

cannot be pushed aside
cannot be circumvented
cannot be subdued
cannot be tricked or cheated

Almighty

coupled with the power of creation.......

REAL Almighty

hey Thief,
Just thinking out loud, my wife told me to shut my mouth, but...
when was the last time `God` created anything, except life.
I'll have to give you that one, no-one really knows.

We know the truthful G-d from His attributes given by Him in Quran- the secure and pristine Word from Him. His attributes*/good names are manifested in the Universe in absolutes.

Gods command the spirits. The spirits aren't without rules.

magic - art of influencing events and producing marvels using hidden natural forces

magic is knowledge of natural things that are hidden to most

maji -c. 1200, "skilled magicians, astrologers," from Latin magi, plural of magus "magician, learned magician," from Greek magos, a word used for the Persian learned and priestly class as portrayed in the Bible (said by ancient historians to have been originally the name of a Median tribe), from Old Persian magush "magician" (see magic). Related: Magian.

Ahh...the priests and pastors and reverends and so called prophets,
changing the method of the way we play the game, till the end of it.
All the standards invented by mentors of religion to parishioners,
are simply the measure of what the stuff is made of from life itself.
We came from all this Stuff, and we will eventually return to it.
We all will return to the Cosmos, like it or not, heaven or not.
The home plates and goal posts and baskets will be still the same.
It's all the way we play the game, and how we respect other people.
I'm not even holding a ball, or playing the game, or scoring anything,
soo...I'll still join you all in traveling through the Cosmos, at the end.
