I have no idea what fish pie is. I'm not sure I want to know after looking at some of the images on Google.

Lovely grub, something you have to try at least once and so simple.

An oven proof bowl, 3 or 4 types of fish, deboned and cut into chunks, (i often use smoked haddock, prawns, cod and scallops), laid in the dish. Cover with seasoned white sauce. Mash some potatoes and spread on top in a thick layer, trying not to ooze the sauce out. Bung in the oven on 200c/ 400f / gas 6 until the potato begins to brown (about 20 to 25 minutes)

Comfort food on a cold winters day

Usually based on a white fish with a cheese sauce and potatoes on the top. But recipes vary. Some people include prawns, or salmon, as @Rival says. Need spinach or something to cut the creaminess. And something like Chablis.
I do a version with sliced potatoes on, rather than mashed.

Anyway, as he doesn't have a griddle pan to grill them, I suggested dusting them in seasoned flour and frying them briefly with garlic and chopped red chillies. Would go with rice and a stir-fried veg.

That sounds very similar to what I would have recommended too. Frying them after marinating them in garlic, cumin powder, pepper, lemon, and salt and then coating them in flour is very common where I live. They're ridiculously tasty (which is something that makes me feel somewhat guilty to admit while working on transitioning to vegetarianism :D).

Ah yes that’s it. Well good. Not something I need worry about next time you visit.
It would be nice to visit again some time, whenever you're available. I'm not having essay crises this year! I've already handed 2 out of 3 in, next is due 5th next month. It's my Gospel passage exegesis, which should be very interesting.

What are you doing? (Besides posting on RF)
Having a glass of Taki Taki.
It's like tomato juice, but tasty.
What would you rather be doing?
I am content atm.
What would you rather not do?
Stepping on a land mine, cutting the grass of a football field using plastic safety scissors, performing brain surgery, throwing up while also having diarrhea and a need to poop... There are lots of things I'd rather not do.

I have a neighbor that used to cut his grass with normal scissors.

I'm not sure why he stopped. He uses a mower now.

Probably best when my son gets back, but that won't be until close to Christmastime - he wants, nutter that he is, to climb more mountains after term ends, in the snow and ice. Are you going to France or staying in the UK over Christmas? Or is it not settled?
