What do Christians really think about the Qur'an

Zindīq
Won't see anything like this in the Bible.

1. Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists),
2. Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood).
3. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,
4. Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)],
5. Has taught man that which he knew not.

The Noble Quran : Surat 96

That is correct, they are books that people have on their shelfs. When people read them, they give a witness/testimony of GOD.

Not sure why people think the witnesess have to be some kind of a human form.

If we are talking about the witnesses in Revelation, that Pegg referenced and you responded to; those witnesses must be human or human forms as that is specially what Revelations is speaking about.

the two witnesses are definitely human from our understanding. The clue is found in vs 3-4
"These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands and are standing before the Lord of the earth.”

the prophet Zecharia saw a similar vision and was shown that the lampstands and olive trees represented people.

Zecharia 4:2 "So I said: “I have seen, and, look! there is a lampstand,...3 And there are two olive trees alongside it, one on the right side of the bowl and one on its left side.”
4 Then I answered and said to the angel who was speaking with me, saying: “What do these [things] mean, my lord?”...6 Accordingly he answered and said to me: “This is the word of Jehovah to Ze‧rub′ba‧bel,...9 “The very hands of Ze‧rub′ba‧bel have laid the foundation of this house, and his own hands will finish [it]. ...
11 And I proceeded to answer and say to him: “What do these two olive trees on the right side of the lampstand and on its left side mean?”...14 Accordingly he said: “These are the two anointed ones who are standing alongside the Lord of the whole earth.
”

Zerubbabel was the one who restored the worship at the temple in Jerusalem after it was destroyed by the babylonians. The two witnesses...the lampstand and olive trees are called the 'annointed ones' and the annointed were Jesus apostles. Jesus told his apostles that they were lampstands when he told them “YOU are the light of the world"

So they are the group of people who restored true worship early in the 'last days'... annointed christians. Its not the bible or Quran on their own because alone, they cannot restore true worship... only 'someone' who is directed by Gods holy spirit can do that.

I do not read anything that makes them human. The two witnesses give testimony for 1,260 years, and yes, they are two olive trees and two candelsticks, and fire from their mouths devour their enemies. I can see why you attribute them to human beleivers/church, but humans are the ones who distort the Truth.

Rev 11:3 And I will give [power] unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

Rev 11:4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

Rev 11:5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

As the two previous posts explain very nicely.

GOD finishing His WORD, or giving humankind the third part of a three part book, is much different than humankind adding to His WORD.

MathewJames,
Many people make statements, but they do not sho where their authority comes from. If you noticed, for everything I said I pointed to a scripture. The only authority for doctrine is the Holy Bible, so to prove something you must use God's word. After we all are just men, and none of our musings or opinions mean anything. When any man writes ipse dixits, he must bre very careful, for the Bible warns about people who are untaught and untrained who twist the scriptures to their own destruction, 2Pet 3:15-18.
Remember what Paul said at 2Tim 3:16,17, that the Holy Scriptures are good for setting things straight, and COMPLETELY equip the man of God for EVERY GOOD WORK. Think about what is said there!! What NEED would there be for other writings from God if the man of God is COMPLETELT EQUIPPED for EVERY GOOD WORK, with the Holy Bible???
The Bible is an open book to all mankind, and everyone should be very careful about writing something that disagrees with God's word. You could very well STUMBLE someone, which Jesus and Paul warned against, Matt 18:6,7, 1Cor 8:11, Rom 14:15. You are stumbling the very one that Christ died for, Heb 10:28-31, James 3:1.

I understand what you mean. But is it not just as esay to misguide people when quoting scripture?

Again, I can only agree with you. But the obvious question is: Why are there so many different Christian groups (or any reliogious group) or sects that can not agree with what the Bible is telling humanity?
