What do you gain from criticism of a religious teaching you do not follow or believe in?

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
This thread is toward the people in RF who every day create OP critiquing any religious teaching they don't believe in or follow themselves.

Question:
What do you gain from it?

Are your OP made so you can learn from believers, or just to mock people you disagree with?

Does it matter to you that some people believe and live their life differently to what you do?

When a believer as you to stop the harrasment, why do you keep pushing? Don't you have respect for other people?

Don't you warn people about products, deals, services and stuff that you have had been experiences with? What's different about religions?

Does it matter to you that some people believe and live their life differently to what you do?
No...that's fine, but when they sell it to others they step on to a whole different platform.

When a believer as you to stop the harrasment, why do you keep pushing? Don't you have respect for other people?
That's just belligerent! You assume that everybody here keeps pushing. Read your own sentence.

The OP is not about me. Keep to the topic and just answer the question without attacking OP starter or others who take part in the thread.

The difference is most of these religious critics have no idea about other religions, there stance is "you don't believe as i believe so ______", fill in the blank, i have received various sick comments that's would fit. All it does is show the narrow minded bigotry of the critics faith

Right. Don't ever try to help people see those things that are clearly ridiculous and fantastically absurd.

Let them wallow in delusion forever without ever mentioning a single thing solely because someone thinks it's mocking them.

If people want to believe woo that's up to them, when they try and force that woo on to you then that's another thing

....these religious critics? Which religious critics?
I criticise a couple of religions devilishly here, or so they tell me.
You know....I've just been reading your critical comments on another thread about stuff that you don't seem to know much about.
But for this thread, people who make challenges are often leaving a door wide open for response, and that gives a chance for explanation and delivery of info.

I just looked at the first 5 pages of this forum and did not find more than one or two OP that was created to critique any religion. Let's do an exercise. Look at the first 10 pages worth of the most recent thread titles, count the number of these OPs that are created to criticize a religion. Then analyze the % of such threads compared to the rest. If you do this, what is the % of such threads?
Maybe you are getting excessively triggered by a few threads. Just a thought...
Next, if a person X puts up a claim in the General Religious Debates what is he expecting other than that those who do not believe that claim to debate with him/her about that topic? That is the proper function of the General Debates section of this forum is it not?

You attacked me in your last sentence....you attacked everybody....read your last sentence of your OP.

I do attack one or two religions on here but only when they are selling themselves.
I will acknowledge anybody's religion do long as they don't sell it or knocj other cultures etc.

Names? You want names? You do realise you or on a well regulated RF? Should said critics cross the line i would report them to admin, not to you.

So do i criticise in cases where i know what i am talking about (and yes i have studied some religion, in many cases more than the claimed devotee of that religion).

Please provide a link to the thread you claim I don't know much about stuff im commenting on. If its the one i believe i thinks its more a case of your deliberate ignorance of both tax and my knowledge and it has nothing to do with religion.

Anyone can believe anything they want BUT when they try to influence you with their unprovable beliefs it crosses a line.
When someone tells me the universe was created in 7-days therefore abortion and same sex marriage is wrong - I react.

Exactly the same things people gain from criticising any other teachings I expect. Where it is well intended, it will generally because they consider the teaching wrong and potentially harmful. I'm sure there are plenty of people who do it for less positive reasons too, but that certainly isn't limited to criticism of religious teaching, going in the opposite direction just as often.

What do you expect to gain from critiquing people who critique religious beliefs?
