What does God look like?

Well, religion changes with culture, and culture evolves. Spirituality could be seen as an evolutionary process. With our expanding knowledge of the Universe we exist in, so must the meaning we attribute to it.
But I thought the word of God was infalable? Unless the religion was man made then why is Earth not the center of the universe? Why do the other planets in the solar system not revolve around earth? How can you change the word of God? For He is infalable...right?

The part about creating him in your consientious mind is what I've been trying to say, that's all he is..in your mind.
Can you prove that? (Don't use big words unless you know what they mean, Haydaman. "Consientious" isn't a word. I believe the word you were going for was "conscientious," but it doesn't make sense within the context of your sentence. Perhaps you meant "conscious." )

And Kazpur, did you say he was white? No...but you're a christian aren't you?
I am. 99% of Christians don't believe God has a physical form at all. The idea that God is white is hardly "Christian doctrine."

The center pannels of the Sistine chapel show God as so...do you disagree with your own religion?
You're kidding, right? :D Are you telling me you think it was a self-portrait?

That is one view of God.

Actually, I would state that the universe revolves around me, since I am the one creating it. God could also be argued to be my creation.

But in the former view of God, Its infallibility could be a result of being adaptive to change.

It was human ignorance....He painted human ignorance in its truest form..the only reason he painted God that way was because he was white..the only reason Christianity exists in predominately white countries is because they believe God is white. Well this is how you view God right...why? Why dictate views such as the 7 deadly sins if they're not open for interpretation? If you think differently about those you're punished, but you can think about God anyway you want? If you were from a different culture and these views were forced upon you..why can't you intemperate them the way you want...but you can't. And don't tell me you can, you're just trying to find a way to complicate the religion more to make it sound true..

Haydaman, you clearly think you know what I believe, but you obviously don't have a clue. I can tell you one thing for sure, I don't intemperate things the way you think I do. :biglaugh:

I know how you interpret things just find, you believe in God...I don't know about you...but I'd rather see what is real, then be blind in faith.

Katz, you know what Pope John-Paul II said about atheism: "The problem with atheism isn't disbelief, but wrong belief." I suspect Haydaman is secretly trying to prove him right.

How many fathers do you know of who do not have a female partner? I believe He does have a female partner, an eternal female companion. Actually, I can't think of a single good reason why He wouldn't.

Y'know, I've never heard anyone say that before.

E=MC2 is how the world was created.....

In this dimension as far as we know anyway. I wonder how long it will take man to look back in time and laugh at that idea as well?

You believing in a relgion makes me rofl...so funny indeed, isn't it?

Everyone needs something to believe in.

Ok - why doesnt someone invent a time machine (interestingly going back in time is possible according to my chem teacher - its getting back that the problem so knowone will try it - something to do with the speed of light!) - that way we go can back to the time of Jesus Christ and see what he looks like and then we will have a pretty decent idea of what God looks like?

Laughable...E=MC2 will never be laughed at, ever...neither will the Law Of Conservation of mass, nor physics or mathematics discovered hundreds to thousands of years...ago..never. Only has blind faith been laughed at through the years of technological advancement..not the other way around.

Ptolemaic astronomy was observational. I think we laugh at it today. And the rumblings of Uncertainty and Complementarity have only just begun to be felt in the popular vision of science and what it represents.

I think you will find that the idea of energy alone creating the universe is laughable! As no scientists claims to know how the universe was created - so how you do I dont know! If we had factual scientific evidence of how the universe was created - there wouldnt be religion!

I still think we should invent a time machine! solve all our problems! :)

I thought you said to find out how the universe was created.....why would you want to see Jesus not get ressurected? Wouldn't you rather go on blind faith like the rest of you God believers...?

You need to read my original post! A few posts back - it got lost! I said this thread is about what God looks like, We are all made in the image of him, even more so is Jesus - soooo if we went back in time and saw what he looked like we would find out what God looked like! And be able to witness first hand the miracles so we could come back and set the bible straight!

So you're saying the bible is wrong? I thought the Apostles witnessed Jesus' ressurecetion, did they not? How is it we don't arleady know what he looks like if their account is true..?

I was talking generally! as in the little mistakes like how many angels were at the tomb, the little differences in the different accounts!
