What does it mean to be "saved?" Saved from what exactly? And how do you KNOW you're saved? OMG!

What is the point of being allegedly "saved"?

  • There is NO point to being saved!

  • We need to be saved from the devil.

  • I am an atheist, so I don't believe in this God stuff.

  • We need to be saved from religion.

  • We need to be saved from the atheists.

  • We need to be saved from hell.

  • We need to be saved from the people that think we should be saved!

  • Other.

  • We need to be saved from ourselves.

These are all veridical questions. I am interested in hearing the opines from the theists, the atheists, and the Agnostics.

Let the debate commence.

Oh yeah, please participate in the poll.

Okay, for starters, I didn't vote on the poll. To begin with, none of the answers really fit my beliefs, and most of them actually seemed kind of sarcastic and flippant. I'd say that I believe that, if we need to be saved from anything, it would be the permanence of death. I could say that we need to be saved from hell, except that for me to say that would be kind of misleading. I believe that with the exception of a miniscule few people who have ever lived, all will ultimately end up in heaven. While I believe it is through Jesus Christ that we will end up there, I believe that it would be really inaccurate to say that if you don't believe in Him, you're going to burn in hell forever. I just don't believe that. To me, being saved means receiving "the fullness of salvation" or "exaltation," which means living forever in God's presence and in the presence of my loved ones, and having the ability to learn and progress and develop eternally. I don't believe there is any one moment in time when a person can say he is "saved." Salvation, in my opinion, is a process, not an event.

From yourself and from attitudes and views of the world that is destructive to yourself and others.

The "garden of eden" is when we can live in peace and harmony with ourselves, others, and nature.

But, hey, that's my pantheistic view. Not very Christian. :D

Not the pantheists? Oh, dang. Ok. Forget my answer above then. LOL!

I tried, but didn't find the "Other" option.

I dont know id you are serious, but I thought the options were amusing. I have no reason to be saved. If I do, it probably be from Christians I live with pushing me to be saved (uhum, their way, apparently).

My personal experience, what I experienced as salvation in christianity was dying to self and live a better life in communion with God. Its nit literal. Jesus didnt time warp to save me. Its nit metaphorical. I went through all the sacraments and each one was not a mere ritual. Its not symbolic. People say they Know they are saved and some peoples live are changed because of it.

What I dont get is the logistics behind salvation. Oh I can see someone living their salvation. I hear people preach "about" it on this site all the time. I can read up on it.

To find out how, I dont think there is an answer. Spirituality isnt about answers but discovery.

Its really very simple... but to answer your question, let me ask you a question....

If someone were to hand you a 10 or 20 year calendar and said you must select a day from this calendar on which to die... which date would you like to choose? Any date is fine, it can be tomorrow or 2 years or 5 years or even up to 20 years....what date do you think you would like to choose?

George: I thought you claimed to be devine so I was hoping you'd know.
You don't?
I'm disappointed.

Yes, it's My personal subjective opinion that I am the Christ, but it's not a big deal and most people don't care!

As far as Me being "divine", I don't know how divine I am, but I would imagine that I am divine as anyone else.

I believe that we are all gods, so we are all as divine as anyone else might be. We are not supernatural God, because even God and the supernatural are not proven by science.

To be a God is just to be... to exist as a sentient, conscious being, and feelings, and to have a conscience. Just because we might be gods, it doesn't change much, and we shouldn't be hubris, but we all are as divine as any any god person.

Divinity is subjective. It's a matter of belief. Some people may believe that I am Divine, and others may believe that I am the AntiChrist. Whatever.

If I am Divine, then we all are divine. If I am not divine, is anyone divine?

We should all obey the golden rule and respect people as much as we can.

To live in My Spirituality is to obey Altruism.

EDIT- I don't know what it means to be "saved". In My Spirituality, you don't need to be saved. But you can be blessed in My Spirituality, and you can get enlightened. Being "saved" is rather ambiguous as no one (even the Christians) knows exactly what it means. We should concentrate on things that are more objective in nature, and see what we can learn from the cosmos.

All humans are heavy burdened in their mind, from their choices, mistakes, past, not happy with themselves, wanting, experiencing a conscious state of hell in some way. Freedom from all of that, fear, and freedom from rules, conditioning, laws, imposed by others from beliefs and tradition, religion, family, friends, government, etc. is salvation... Free from all of that garbage and a non-content mind.
