What does the Democratic Party have in common with Cancer?

Politicians=root of all evil, so Rick is correct, though a bit too inclusive.
Whatever dude, cynicism does not equal wisdom. It's just an excuse to not be involved. An abdication of your responsibility as a citizen.

Politicians such a Dennis Kucinich and CA-rep Pete Stark really stand for what they believe in. I am hoping Obama is the same but only time will tell.

I'm not supporting the Dems here. I'm just reacting to the "Dems=root of all evil" diatribe that Rick is spewing.

No spewing. I have gave frubals each and every day and no one has agreed with me yet, but there has been some good points made. I like to think I am provocative, not ranting, spewing, or conducting a diatribe. I agree that Obama is worthy of respect. I just disagree with him on the second amendment. I will forward an e-mail he sent me if you PM me Lilithu. Obviously I don't hate Democrats if I actually e-mail them and hope to find common ground.

I am an independent. i spend my time musing over such candidates as lobsterman.

Kucinich is not going to be the candidate. Its a two person race, and its HIllary or Obama for the Democrats. Its almost guaranteed. Neither looks to be a great president. One is inexperienced and the other says we should give $5000 to babies.

Great job portraying Rick as a republican zealot by the way. Bit more practice and you could enter politics

Kucinich? Give me a break, his impeachment proposal went over almost as good as Ohio's economy is. If he cannot bring his own state into the 21st century, how would he ever lead our country? Perhaps he still believes the United States has a future in manufacturing so the mindless will once again find employment.

Right, by comparing the Democratic party to cancer.

He did a fine job of it himself. If you consider the OP and his subsequent posts to be "moderate" I would hate to think what it takes for you to call someone a zealot.

You'll be sadly disapointed.
Better than being a jaded cynic.

And btw, from what little I know of your politics, your the one who is going to be sadly disappointed when you get a better picture of yossarian's political views.

 I didn't say he'd make a good president. I said he's a politician who really stands for something. He doesn't check the polls before he takes a position.

There's two different issues here: people who are blatantly Dem bashing, and people who are so cynical that they bash all politicians as if that's somehow wiser.

Right, by comparing the Democratic party to cancer.
I have heard far worse.

I love how presumptions come into everything. I do not consider Rick a zealot therefore he must be moderate. Sounds like the bilge politicians try to feed us

What, the whole capitalism thing? Or the global warming thing? Or the recycling thing? I am a contrarian in virtually everything, so I have little doubt that many people will take exception to many things I say

I am pretty satisfied with the way things are right now. Yes there are people who break the laws now, but more laws will change nothing for the lawless.

I don't mind people having guns, just not people who are insane and have been in mental hospitals (Cho) and people with criminal records.

Better than being a jaded cynic.

History always repeats. Obama is either:

A) An imperialist like every other US President since Harry Truman who uses empty rhetoric to get people to vote for him, which is what it's starting to look like to me
B) Actually a good guy like Jimmy Carter, and we all know how that turned out.

And btw, from what little I know of your politics, your the one who is going to be sadly disappointed when you get a better picture of yossarian's political views.

I do know of his politics, but I've agreed with everything he's said in this thread so far. I just said I'd frubal him for every post in this thread, not for the site.

P.S. Socialists are the last people who could be described as cynical. Except being cynical of the capitalist democratic system that is. :p

What I really abhor about the 2nd amendment argument (or any politicized argument) is how idiotic and extremist both sides are. Moderates in policy making appear to have died out. One side says guns are the devil incarnate and that we should melt them all. The other says that we should give an anti-tank weapon to whoever wants one. Apparently the middle ground does not exist. If your not with us your with them is the best summary of current politics right now.

YES exactly.

The issue isn't whether you've heard worse. The issue is whether or not his comments make him a zealot.

Really.... well then you tell me what you think the other options are.

I am a contrarian in virtually everything, so I have little doubt that many people will take exception to many things I say.
Great. In other words, you don't really care; you just like to argue. Thank you for wasting my time.

 I'd be quite happy with another Kennedy, even if that doesn't meet your exacting standards.

So lets summarize your view on the political spectrum
You are either a Communist terrorist a moderate or a fascist zealot?
No, you're either a zealot about something, or a moderate about something.

Or an apathetic slug. Or a self-promoting troll.

You still have not addressed the point I was making. I'll clarify: does supporting a side on an issue make you a zealot for said side? because that is what you are arguing

Bull! that is not what I was arguing and you know it. Whatever side you support, comparing the other side to cancer makes you a zealot. In fact, it makes you far worse than a zealot since people can zealously support a side without resorting to such levels.
