What evidence for God

Pics or it didn't happen.:D

Just like aliens or bigfoot - every time I try to take a picture, even with the best camera - it comes out fuzzy. All the other toes are perfect, but I guess the divine nature of the pinkie mucks up the electronics a bit.

from what i gather some believe god didn't create hell...some believe jesus is the way, some believe mohammed is...some don't even acknowledge jesus or mohammed as anything other than wise men...
how can you reconcile that as worshipping the same god?.

I believe in Evolution;)

Religion and religious understanding evolve.

How many Catholics do you suspect are aware that the Pope/Vatican has recognized that the God of Christianity and the God of Islam are one in the same?;)

Don't panic it's organic.

Day by day, year by year, there is less and less of any real significance dividing the major faiths and more common ground and cooperation being established.

some think god is found in nature
some think god is found in the kindness of strangers
some think god is an indifferent first cause

god is understood subjectively...that is the point.

Yea....it's like the diversity of the colors and shapes of flowers....unified in a single garden;)

the inverse of that is understanding god empirically...
sort of like, we all know we get wet when jumping into the ocean...
or that we empirically understand gravity... or that it is best to stay away from tornadoes if you want to survive...
god is not understood in the same way. period. that is fact. that is the way it is.

Sort of like the vast majority of the worlds population jumps into the ocean of theism and many/most percieve only their own beachfront and are only dimly aware (if at all) that all the oceans are linked?
Seen from space as 'One'?
Kinda like that?

Or kinda like most of the world finds that adheering to The Golden Rule is the gravity that keeps them and their community grounded?

When you tell me- "god is not understood in the same way. period. that is fact. that is the way it is"...I can only advise God, for me, is "understood in the same way" and there are billions who share that understanding.

i think the idea of god comes from an innate sense of comfort as a defense mechanism for most people

sort of like there are more followers than leaders...
or more people follow the drum beat of those who follow their own...
what do you think?

Answer was provided in #1115-

"....would think it would be solid proof there IS god?

I wouldn't......but surely you hold the inverse of your proposition to be true....?"

i just want to know why you called him shirley...
:D

seriously why would he hold the inverse to be true.

if black is the absence of color then that would be true to the color of black
the inverse would change the color...if all the colors were present then it would be white...
i'm not sure i follow your logic...

what do you think?

I think you just ignored everything I said in prior post and went on to new/different issues questions.

I think that happens a lot and I'm, sort of, getting used to it.

I think it's late here and I'll go to bed.

Goodnight! ;)

well we were talking about the idea of god is not universally understood the same way...
and the reason MOST people have a general sense of a god is because of the reasons i stated...

sleep tight...

Almost enough to stay up for...

i just want to know why you called him shirley...
:D

Because I would never call him Lateforbreakfast!:p

seriously why would he hold the inverse to be true.

It wouldn't.... it would make just as much sense as the original propisition....not much/none.

if black is the absence of color then that would be true to the color of black
the inverse would change the color...if all the colors were present then it would be white...
i'm not sure i follow your logic...

Now we are even!
Serendipity!

Have you ever tried to put your right hand in your left hip pocket and hold yourself out at arms length?:thud:

how about this...

since black is what we empirically agree upon the inverse of what makes black would not hold true...
so either god is understood empirically or not.

Atheistically
And if it should come to pass/evolve that "the same god is evenly distributed globally" and the major living religious traditions recognised that the god worshiped is 'one God'......would think it would be solid proof there IS god?

I wouldn't......but surely you hold the inverse of your proposition to be true....?

No i would not.

because it did not start out evenly distributed.

lets see

first ancient hebrews started the abrahamic god.

a thousand years later with people that already know the fables and history branch away into christianity with a proclaimed son of god.

then a few hundred years later after already knowing the same history the muslims start their religion.

you want proof, show me god went and talked to all different races and cultures at the same time and the same storys spread evenly.

You cannot and fail this exercise

why?
first)gods miracles are not events!
second)almost all events are proofs of a reason.
its not essential to see or be witness to believe something or understand it
