I'm paraphrasing here, but one whose central tenet is: "Shut up about your beliefs and rules, and act in compassion towards others" would be perfect, IMO.

Perhaps...but again much of the mythology and pantheon is incompatible with empirical truth, which for me is the fundamental aspect of a true religion, a search for truth.

Specifics in each Booko, almagamated they are a kaleidoscope of perfection to the mind that can glimpse it.
I find they are all parochial in some way, I think there needs to be a universal context, that even a creature from another galaxy could appreciate...maybe thats going too far...after all its all about perceptions and don't they vary in extremes on just one planet?

That's a fine way to describe how I feel about the religion I follow. I do look at all the religions as a "kaleidoscope of prefection."
Well, they all arose in times that had specific needs for the time and place they began, so that explains some of the parochialism, I think.
Other things, well, religions are not static and people do tend to add their personal ideas over time, sometimes for good, often not.

Ah I see, humor, unfortunately I tend to interpret everything I read literally, which is why the Bible hurts my brains.

Speaking truthfully Tau, a perfect religion would be an illusion.
Greed might be a good unifying theme, as it is something most people partake of when given the opportunity. Issuing Tazer's to the "faithful" might also be a good idea for the times that their attempts to convert others fall flat. Their theme could be, "What's the buzz... tell me what's a happenin' ..."
Seriously though, I hope we never have a "perfect" religion that everyone would flock to. I think that it would only succeed in becoming a form of institutionalized mediocrity.
But YmirGF greed does not unify, it instead creates division, suffering and ecological damage, how could this be used as a rallying call?
So not 'anything' could be used surely?
There is in my sphere of vision, a universal doctrine as yet unwritten, but existing in potentia.
