Processed Meats (and Probably Red Meats) Can Cause Cancer, Says Controversial WHO Report

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a research division of the World Health Organization, announced Monday that processed meats such as bacon, sausage, ham, and hot dogs cause cancer.

Ham, hot dogs, and bacon have been singled out in a new international report linking processed meats with cancer. It’s the most aggressive stance by a regulatory agency yet, and the U.S. meat industry is taking exception. But many nutrition experts say the evidence is there

Scientists say a lot of things. Doesn't mean they are right. I know some scientists that taking a little Mercury each day makes your brain perform better. Bacon doesn't cause cancer. Artificial stuff does like Aspartame does that.

I just want to point out to certain people that this is a joke thread, so if you are reading the above comments about bacon don't take them seriously. Don't eat so much bacon that you die. Don't eat so much chocolate that you die. If you do its your own fault for believing in this religion called Revoltifarianism. You've every right to believe in it, but don't blame us if bacon drags your soul into hell or chocolate turns you into a mindless freak.

Should I stop feeding my dog the bacon off the sandwiches I order? I don't eat bacon, but I always make it a point when ordering a sandwich that comes with bacon to not tell them to leave it off, because I know my pup would appreciate it.

It's well known that dogs love bacon, & love is good for dogs.

I have a more powerful argument for the net benefit of bacon.....

You wanna argue with a famous felon?

The study shows that eating "processed" meat, not..., I guess, "farm-to-table" meat..., is only "probably" carcinogenic within a given limit. Even then, it was only something like a 20% increase. At the end of the day, a diet based on red meats that are then cooked (often charged) have compounds that have carcinogenic properties (if they are "processed"). Once or twice a week (I think it was 50g?) would have no effect. The truth is, our colons and rectums aren't quite adjusted to having "Red meat", which is more or less large mammals, multiple times a day. Which makes sense because the potential to have red meat everything day was pretty much nonexistent up until a 100 or so years ago, unless you were a king or something.

I only want to touch something Martha Stewart has touched if she's informed me previously whether or not to sell or buy, thank you very much. And that does include K-Mart. They have K-Mart's up there, btw?

Also, if you were born 30 years later than you were, you'd be a meme master.
