What is the definition of a "Woman"?

I did not see a goldfish become a shark 50 years ago and I still do not see one today. You are ignoring science.
That's OK because we aren't talking about goldfish. And your kind of science is 1950's era. Just look at your posts, you are avoid the very topic now. Do you even understand how hormones affect the brain? If not then why are you holding your obsolete views on this topic of how some have experiences that differ from how they look?

So...you check chromosomes and hormones before you address anyone with gendered titles or pronouns?
If I were talking to you, the only pronouns I would use are "you" and "your" regardless if you are male or female. The only time I would use a gender title pronoun in reference to you is if I were talking about you to someone else (which means you are not a part of the conversation)

The issue of how to define "man" and "woman" is an example of such a complicated question, since 1) current scientific consensus is that gender and sex are different things, and 2) there's no clear-cut, rigorous evidence as to which traits exactly define each gender. We can either acknowledge this complexity or rush to an oversimplified answer in the vein of "a woman is someone with a vagina" while ignoring that gender is different from biological sex.
If Gender is different from biology, that would make it a social construct. If gender is a social construct, perhaps to eliminate confusion, people should be addressed according to their biology the way all other mammals are.

Experts? If they can't give a definition of what a man and a woman is they're not experts.

Again, according to whom? If there isn't enough evidence to establish an objective or scientific basis for a definition, it makes sense that they won't give one. No scientist worth their salt will make up definitions without relying on evidence and the scientific method.

Your example is different from variations in gender identity among humans, which are indeed confirmed to exist by science:

Science Says: Sex and gender aren't the same
I hope I am allowed to give my opinion without fear of being censored. I completely agree that there are differences between sex and gender. I absolutely have no problem with a male saying he feels like a female or identifies with being female. I do not agree with a person with male organs saying he IS a female. He may feel like or identify with or want to be a female but he IS a male. And I believe, my opinion, that someone with male organs should not compete in sports as a female. And should not be using restrooms and locker rooms with females. He is absolutely allowed to fell like or want to be anything he wants. But he is still a male. He can say his gender is female but his sex is male. And sports and restrooms should be based on sex. Thank you for listening.

According to their “biology”? Please see post #55 on page 3 of this thread.
Do you mean chromosomes? Or their reproductive organs? Or….what?

Again, please see post #55. Should the person in the 2nd photo have to change in the men’s locker room? Should the guy in the 1st photo compete against young women athletes? o_O

The new supreme court nomination of Biden Ketanji Brown Jackson can not answer this question.

That is funny and disturbing. Person who doesn’t know the answer to that is not fit to be a judge.

But, in a way I can understand it. Nowadays if you tell what is a woman, it can lead to many troubles. Maye it should be asked from those who are “changing” their sex to female. :D

F1fan I think you need a reality check!! A Judge should be impartial A Judge should be neutral going only by the law!
Nothing about GOP! It is a all about fairness and truth!
It is NOT a Judge if the Judge is towing a party line.. Give your head a shake!!
And how was she not being impartial in saying that she could not "define" the word woman?

At least in Canada, we have done that (see Department of Justice: Women and the Criminal Justice System), where women are defined (for legal purposes in Canada) as: ''All people who identify as women, whether they are cisgender or transgender women."

I could not find such a definition in the US, and as a US judge, constrained to follow legal definitions, how else could she answer?

You’re right, it’s easy.
Man

Woman

After all, it would be …erm….awkward  for the top muscle-bound college guy to walk into a girls’ bathroom, or the young lady in the second picture to change in the men’s locker room.
Muscle-guy always knew he was a man, and the pretty young lady always knew she was a girl/woman. He has the correct functional stuff hanging down below the belt line, and her’s don’t hang down.
Sheez! People should just get a CLUE!

.

PS - The ‘Dude’ has XY chromosomes, and the girl you’d like to meet in the second picture is XX.
That is to say they have just what God gave them. Which includes a good surgeon, and a good endocrinologist. Thanks be to God!
;)
Out of idle curiosity, the man in this picture doesn't have the "correct functional stuff hanging down there." Because he didn't have them when he was born. His name is Luke Hudson, and he's a trans-man.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I once knew a woman who was a pseudo-hermaphrodite. The following is what she claimed and how she explained it to me. Externally she was completely female in appearance, aside from a slightly larger than normal clitoris. Discovered she was 'Xy' when visiting a doctor about never having periods. Her internal gonads were malformed and had to be removed after they became cancerous. She kept on living/identifying as female.
That's the difference. One is natural and the other is artificial.
