What is wrong with sharia law?

oldbadger

Skanky Old Mongrel!
This is what Shariah law does to beautiful people like Mona who was hung just for being a Bahá'í.

I don't like many Sharia Laws.
But your complaint is surely about Shi'ite Iran, not Sharia Law.
After all, Yemen is a Muslim land and Mona (and family) were simply expelled from there.
No, Most Muslims would complain about Iran.

the word "Islam" means "submission" to God

OK, so for example, would sharia law enshrine the death penalty for apostasy? Some Muslims would say yes, some Muslims would say no, and some Muslims would say there shouldn't be sharia law at all. How do you accommodate all three groups?
Every had opinion, not all Muslims countries apply that.
Allah was clear in Quran ,everyone is free to believe or disbelieve, I do believe that case just in religious war (convert to betraying).

Right, but you haven't really answered my question of how this should be applied in practice.

Do you think the government should represent the people? If so, how can a particular religious interpretation of law possibly fulfill this ideal?

Hi oldbadger.

The legal code according to this link says since 1979 Iran has been following Shariah law.

Judicial system of Iran - Wikipedia

Mona was executed under Shariah law.

At the time of her sentencing, President of the United States Ronald Reagan, made a plea for clemency; despite this, the sentence of the 10 women was carried out on the night of June 18, 1983, at a nearby polo field.

Mona Mahmudnizhad - Wikipedia

How utter heart wrenching and disgusting. All she did was teach children morals.

I believe in secular law. It leaves us free to state inconvenient truths which may be seen as insulting to the religion of the masses. Insult to religion laws are definitely a problem with most shariah models presented.

Please give specific examples of sharia laws that you believe should be enforced on everyone.

Like cutting hands for stealing and prohibition of alcohol. Those two things could help a lot especially in eastern Europe and Americas continents.

My father in Ukraine always have to take his cars stereo interface with him because it would get stolen according to him. Ukraine is not even on top 3 most criminal nations.

I was talking to a guy at the gym the other day, he told me his friends Rolex watch got stolen in Europe by gypsies who are from eastern Europe.

The US Constitution would most likely prohibit cutting off hands under the clause forbidding "cruel punishments". As for prohibiting alcohol, that's been tried and it failed.

It might be easier to ask what is right with Sharia Law instead.

Exit question: What is wrong with human animals who like Sharia Law?

What is wrong with those people who don't like sharia law? Maybe those people have better ways. However, there is countries that don't have better ways.

What is wrong with Sharia Law ?

Theocratic interference with my life.

Only I will determine my moral principles.

Anyone who claims authority to determine my morals for me is insidious, dangerous, and afraid to think and feel authentically for themself.

What is wrong with sharia law? A law like that could help most criminal regions like Americas get back on the right track. Wouldn't you think so?
Who ever said there is something wrong with sharia law? I am ignorant here. What IS wrong with sharia law? Did someone important say there is something wrong with it?
