What really happens to you after you die...

God will judge the whole world at one time. So when we die our soul will sleep until that day. Then Jesus will come down and awaken the dead to be judged. John 5:26 As the Father hath in himself; so hath he given to the So to have life in himself. 28 Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming in which all that are in their graves shall here his voice, 29 and come forth, they that have done good, to resurrection of life; they that have done evil to resurrection of damnation.

After you die, you are interrogated by Angels. However, this does not mean you will know the truth. If you are under control of Satan in this world, you will remain under his control till day of judgment. If you obeyed God, you will have bliss and be with believers in a spiritual garden.

The truth to will fully manifest and be proven on day of judgment and punishment of Angels on disobedient souls pales in comparison to that of the final day.

We Never Know

I think when you die you are compelled to make a choice. First, you can decide to go into the light, look into the face of God, time stops, and you experience heavenly bliss for all eternity. And second, you decide you are not worthy, for whatever reason, and you turn away from the light. At which point, you are immediately given omnipotent powers.

Once you have omnipotent powers, everything you imagine instantly becomes reality the moment you imagine it. Then, for a few million years or so, you live out all your fantasies. You get to exercise all your desires, demons, and life regrets until they no longer have any power over you. At some point, you become bored because you can't think of anything else to experience that you haven't experienced a million times over. At that exact moment of that feeling, the light at the end of the tunnel reappears. But this time with a clean spirit you go into the light, you look into the face of God, time stops, and you experience heavenly bliss for all eternity.

So everyone will eventually make it into heaven to experience heavenly bliss for all eternity regardless of our earthly sufferings and earthly sins. What a beautiful thought. Don't you agree??? Is there anything more beautiful to hope and wish for than all our friends, family, and enemies getting to experience heavenly bliss for all eternity after they die regardless of their life history and circumstances.

My thoughts about religion are not really conventional. When I was in my 20s, I had a huge argument with a born again Christian. I said, "I can't listen to someone telling me what to think from a pulpit. I believe absolute authority comes from within." He said, "Who told you that?" This went back and forth for a while. Then, I really got the guy mad because he started talking about eternal damnation and where my soul was going to go when I died. I said, "How bad can it be? It can't be worse than living in New Jersey." He did not crack a smile.

I had to work with this guy so I tried to extend him an olive branch. I started talking about the metaphysics of Hell. I said the suffering you experience in Hell must be like an irrational number. If the suffering were a pattern that repeated eventually you would get used to it. So the suffering in Hell must be like an irrational number where it never is quite the same thing each time so as to prevent you from getting used to it. He said, "yeah, yeah, that's it." My born again friend smiled from ear to ear thinking about the prospect of my suffering in Hell. So we parted as friends. But his reaction of joy at the idea of me suffering in Hell always took me aback a bit. How good can a religion be if people who follow it take joy in other people's suffering. Evil is always where you least expect it. And what I have found, the people who are the most obsessed with morality and sin turn out to be the ones who are the most immoral.
Dead people don't talk therefore no one knows.

Is obedience to god better than simply sincerely trying to be a fair person?

How would anyone know which sort of obedience (to which claims about god's will) would be proper anyway?

A proof of Prophethood and it's need once you believe in God, is that differences occur regarding moral imperatives, big and small, and to trust ourselves to sort it all out would be foolish. So there needs to be guidance from God and proof from him.

Sorting it out is a lot easier than people make it out to be. For one, God sorts it out for you, all you need to do is listen. Second, God proves clear sign in a form of a book as well as physical miracles. Physical miracles no longer in public, but you can pray to God to guide you by the hands of the guide as well the book suffices as a clear sign/proof.

The proof of God in a form of book should be clear, manifest, and his books should be unparalleled to books not from him.

I don't think it's possible to be fair by choosing one's own morals by conjecture, caprice, and ignoring guidance from God. That's going to make you not side with the truthful but fall prey to falsehood inevitably.

When you die your soul goes into a deep sleep till the day of Judgement. You have to decide now who you will follow. That is the world or God. those who follow God are of God, those who follow in this world is of this world and will not see the new life God has planned only for them that follow his standards and guidelines.
John 15:19 If you were of the world the world would love its own: but I have chosen out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

In all sincerity, that is all entirely alien to me.

I don't think that is even possible, even as a fantasy or hypothesis. Neither humans nor god-conceptions work that way.

All you need is love.
I have come to believe the initial experience is foreshadowed by what is described by Near Death Experiencers. I think our astral/soul body will permanently separate from our physical bodies and we will experience an afterlife of beauty and growing lessons. Down the line after that we will reincarnate for further growth opportunities.

As a spirit medium and spiritualist, I believe that we are typically greeted by spirit guides or even our loved ones when it's our time to cross over. Based on what I've witnessed while assisting spirits to cross over, they see a light that feels welcoming and peaceful to them. My years of experience as a medium have convinced me that human spirits can evolve and increase their knowledge on the other side. I also know that there are a fair number of bad people in the world, and I believe that when these people die, they can become frightened earthbound spirits who refuse to cross over because they don't want to or are afraid of some kind of judgment. I also believe that these spirits typically remain as they are while they are earthbound, but I can only speculate as to what will happen to them and other spirits once they've crossed over. However, I believe that they can travel between the spirit world and our world.

To be honest, I don't believe that we should necessarily fear death. We all have an upcoming appointment with death, and it is just an unavoidable fact of life. Personally, I no longer fear dying since I renounced my belief in the biblical God. After what I've experienced since I was six years old, I've decided that I have no legitimate reason to accept what the Bible teaches about the afterlife or that death is something that I should necessarily fear. But I do wonder how I will die and whether I will choose to cross over into the spirit world. However, I'm not concerned about what will happen to me on the other side.

You sound like one that will quickly accept the spirit world. Perhaps you may even become a guide yourself.

Thank you for the kind compliment, my friend.

After crossing into the spirit realm, I'd like to evolve into a spirit guide so that I can assist other spirits as well as psychic mediums in the physical world. I truly appreciate the guidance and assistance provided by my empathetic spirit guides, who come to me whenever I need help with an earthbound spirit.

For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Matthew 7 King James Version (KJV)
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

I'm still confused... So you would like God to be judged by us the same way God judges us?

No idea where or even how you got the idea I was talking about people going any of the judging in the OP scenario.

I am referring to the Biblical claim that each person will be judged by god based upon the standards that specific person used to judge others.

You know, just like the verse states.

I think that this is yet another elaborate speculation about the afterlife that I have read in this thread.

It also confirms, in my opinion, what I said in the opening paragraph of my first post in this discussion (post #25).
