What should be made into a film?

I think they should remake King Kong Vs. Godzilla film but not with the phoney Columbia/Tri-Star Hollywood Godzilla but definately graphics on par with Peter Jackson's King Kong.

Also a Gamera Vs. Godzilla film is way over due and would be the most exciting fight of this century.

 OMG, you are an Elric fan!!!!!!! *Ðanisty glomps Mystic* I love you! It seems like nobody has any idea who Elric is. You should check out www.multiverse.org. That is Michael Moorcock's site and forum and the most awesome thing about it is that he participates all the time. I've actually had conversations with him on the forum before. It's really awesome. So guess what, there is going to be an Elric movie! Here, check out this part of the site:

OMG, there are other Elric fans here??? :faint:

They're making a movie? : hamster :

Oh, thanks for bringing this up -- I haven't introduced my son to Elric yet, but I think he'd be a real fan too. I don't know why it hadn't occured to me yet. *slaps forehead*

Yay! I'm so excited to meet more Elric fans! You know there have been some semi-recent books, right? The Dreamthief's Daughter, The Skrayling Tree, and The White Wolf's Son. I'm re-reading the Skrayling Tree right now.

What do you think should be made into a film?

I would say His Dark Materials trilogy, but they're making that, unless they're just doing the first one :/ (which I doubt) I hope it comes out good.

Genesis Chapter 6. I'd be intruiged to see how a good director handles the Nephilim and the chaos of the world at that time [fictional story in my opinion but an interesting one].

The one at the top of my wish list is THUNDERCATS!!
I just read that the Thundercats movie was going to be a animated CG movie......that pretty much cans it for me. I really wish Hollywood would stop being lazy and stop doing all of this CGI crap. Ticks me off to no end.

Me and a friend I just met a couple months ago were at Walmart a few days ago in the kitchen utensils/appliances sections. The things that where going through our minds should definitely be apart of a movie, allthough they would be much more fitting for a Rob Zombie movie. We have come to call that section the "Fun and Creative Torture Devices Section." Everything from a metal meat tenderizer with the normal side and flat side, textured cutting board, cheese grater, and even a pasta strainer can all be used as interesting devices. I even found a use for a rack you hang bananas on.

Done here.
Frank Zappa's Joe's Garage
That's a great idea!

I would like to see a movie based on the life of Edgar Cayce. It should be called "Seer" and the lead role should be given to Johnny Depp.
So is that.

That one too.

I'd rather see someone do Stranger first...
I'm surprised nobody's done it yet.

I love all those ideas. I'd also like to see movies based on any of the following books:

The Book of the Dun Cow, by Walter Wangerin.

Kristin Lavransdatter, by Sigrid Undset

Black Lamb and Grey Falcon, by Rebecca West

A Wrinkle In Time, by Madeleine L'Engle. (This has been done, but I mean a good movie.)

Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone? The Carter Family and Their Legacy In American Music, by Mark Zwonitzer.

Blue Highways, by William Least Heat Moon.

Fearful Majesty: The Life and Reign of Ivan the Terrible, by Benson Bobrick.

Geek Love, by Katherine Dunn.

A Confederacy of Dunces, by John Kennedy Toole.

OMG nergasm... The titles I've seen in this thread that appeal to me would have to be Ender's Game and American Gods. Joe's Garage, that's great! Me, I'm still waiting for the Xombie movie.

Watermelon In Easter Hay: The Frank Zappa Story
???/ Color/ 164 Mins./ This movie has not been rated? 20??

The movie will focus on the life, the music and the mind of Frank Zappa. It will explore his early beginnings, his moments with the Mothers Of Invention, Flo and Eddie and later band constructions. The points that I want the movie to bring out are his technological musical contributions, his fight for the rights of lyrics in music with the Senate hearing with the PMRC, his politics and relations with the country of Czechoslovakia and his struggle with cancer and the actor to play him……..

If done correctly, this movie could walk away with a lot of awards.

I'd love to see "The Mephisto Club" by Tess Gerritsen made into a film.

I don't want to spoil the story too much for those who haven't read it but what I can tell you is that it revolves around an organisation of occult experts searching for a murderous Nephilim and trying to discover who it's next victim will be. Throw in a few skeptical cops, a horny vicar and more twists than a game of pontoon and you've got a great story.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. They keep talking about it, but nothing seems to come of the discussions.

Tu Stultus Es
A good H.P. Lovecraft film. There've been a few strong ones, but they strayed from the source material a bit too much (except for Call of Cthulhu which is really good). Del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness seemed promising but he's going to be tied up with two Hobbit films so that project may never take off.

The chernobyl accident from the prospective of the soviets, and the soldiers who gave their life to plug the leak.

The father of one of the soldiers who was drafted for the duty , knew his son wouldn't survive and asked to go in his place and was allowed to, that story gives me chills.

Nepenthe

Tu Stultus Es
A history of the bible.
There'd be too many cg effects, and I'd lose interest at hour 28 when they just start in on Nehemiah. But if they did, the dvd would have to include the Ethiopian Orthodox Church version of the film as well as the Pe****ta.

I'd love to see a film version of American Flagg before the comics-to-film trend burns itself out. I doubt it'd ever be made though, and some of the stuff in the comic was strangely prescient (banks collapsing, the rise of mall culture, the mainstreaming of porn, talking cats) so it may not be as subversive as it was back in the day.

PKD's VALIS should be a fascinating (and perhaps experimental) challenge to translate into the big screen, perhaps an experimental quest to produce it for DVD home version.

so far 11 movies have been based on PKD's work, but VALIS is very different just by the sheer scope of all the philosophy injected into it, reading the book is like taking part in one of PKD'S trips.. which is not necessarily a metaphor ;)
