National Baptist Convention
ToE does not affect my belief because if the theory do add up, it would (in my belief) still be from God.When I was a Christian, I was a theistic evolutionist; meaning that I believed in God, and that the processes of the natural world had been set in place to accomplish his ends. In other words, there was no conflict between my faith and any of the currently accepted scientific theories. As a result, it very much perplexed me when Christians who found out I was not a believer would start talking about evolution and the Big Bang Theory - or more accurately, what their church had falsely taught them about evolution and the Big Bang Theory. For them it was an important theological point. For me, evolution was no more meaningful to my belief in a god than heliocentrism.
How much would the theory of evolution being true impact your beliefs. And why?
Hi Altfish. Good evening. And yet, it would seem that if the theory of evolution didn't exist, there would be a lot less atheism. As an atheist it makes no difference to my (lack of) religious beliefs.

Maybe. I would still be one.Hi Altfish. Good evening. And yet, it would seem that if the theory of evolution didn't exist, there would be a lot less atheism.
Hi Policy. Good evening. Do we know that for sure?Maybe. I would still be one.
How so?Hi Altfish. Good evening. And yet, it would seem that if the theory of evolution didn't exist, there would be a lot less atheism.
What reason do we have to believe the Bible is correct on such matters?Good evening Policy. The theory of evolution isn't true according to the Bible, so what you are saying is, what if the Bible proved to be untrue. The Bible is true. We can believe it. We can live it. We can obey it. We can receive eternal life by believing in the saving Name of Yahshua and the Heavenly Father Yahweh (Acts 2:21) and as a result keeping His Laws.
It wouldn't change anything about God claims. Evidence for god(s) would still be lacking.Hi Policy. Good evening. Do we know that for sure?
That is your Christian sect's interpretation of the Bible. Other sects of Christianity interpret it differently, If you want to argue the point, go argue it with one of them.Good evening Policy. The theory of evolution isn't true according to the Bible, so what you are saying is, what if the Bible proved to be untrue.
Yes. As I said, the theory of evolution was not a factor in my deconversion from Christianity.Hi Policy. Good evening. Do we know that for sure?
That wasn't the question. But yes, if the ToE then possibly there would be less atheists ... but the internet is making more atheists.Yes. As I said, the theory of evolution was not a factor in my deconversion from Christianity.
It was @Messianic Israelite 's question to which I was responding. That wasn't the question
Probably. But it is hard to tell which are atheists who are revealed, and which are atheists being deconverted from a religion. I deconverted well before relay, let alone before Mozilla was a thing. But yes, if the ToE then possibly there would be less atheists ... but the internet is making more atheists.
The ToE in no way contradicts Divine creation, especially if one takes the creation accounts as being mainly allegorical. .The theory of evolution isn't true according to the Bible,
I don't think it impacted my non-belief, given I probably didn't know the exact details of the theory until later, and I suspect much the same applies to many, with the sheer numbers of different religious beliefs - and all not being compatible - perhaps being the major reason why many are non-believers. Apart from an understanding of why religions tend to develop and are so popular, given that much of such is inbuilt into childhood for so many. Not in my case, so somewhat easier for me to slip the bonds.Hi Altfish. Good evening. And yet, it would seem that if the theory of evolution didn't exist, there would be a lot less atheism.
