Hello Heneni this is a good question......I think Satan probably knew when Jesus was born, the star, was a good indication. If he didn't recognize that, he missed an excellent chance of having the light bulb go on......Then when Herod had the babies killed and Jesus was safe, that would have been another light bulb moment. Then when the famous temptation with Jesus failed Satan had to know This was the Son Of God, if he didn't then he should have used another brand of light bulb. The life of Christ, the miracles he performed if by this point Satan hadn't seen the light then his breaker was tripped and there would be no light bulb go on....By the time we get to the death and resurrection of Jesus he knew he was never going to see the light again, just outer darkness......... and it is better to light one little candle :candle: than to curse the darkness.......When did satan get the light bulb moment? The moment he could say... AH HA! This one is Jesus!
hmm a bit of trial and error huh?
maybe that's why my closet smelt a bit like singed hair the other week - he's still looking for likely suspects.
I think Satan knew right away. The demons could tell right away who Jesus was--they called him the "Son of God" more than anybody!
What I've always wondered is this: what was Satan thinking when when Jesus became a human, and then later when he was going to the die?
Was it: "Is God crazy!? He's made Himself into a mortal man, just to hang out with His little creations? Muuahahaha! I have Him now! The universe is miiiine!" (Imagine the scene from "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" where the Witch is about to kill Aslan and she thinks she's about to win...)
Or was it more like this: "NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo...!" as Jesus expired and there was nothing Satan could do to stop it?
Maybe he's in denial, because he still can't believe that an all-powerful God would become a poor carpenter's boy.
True, but Jesus was over thirty. Could the demons tell before then? If they could, then his neighbourhood school friends must have shouted this strange idea of jesus being the son of god all the time. NO? Did noboty pay attention to it.
I think satan must have been more of a nervous wreck after waiting for about two thousand years for jesus to pitch up. He knew someone was going to come and sort him out since it was prophesied in genesis.
I think your second one is more likely: Satan entered Judas, not to get jesus killed but to stop judas making the mistake of satans life.
If Herod had to be inspired by satan to kill all those children, then he wasnt much good to satan. If satan knew who jesus was, wouldnt he have used somone to get the right boy killed?
he could have put out a contract on him? surely someone knew a guy that knew a guy that knew a guy that worked in the waste disposal in Jerusalem
Of course the devil knew who Jesus was: Jesus was the firstfruits of the creation, and Lucifer, Satan before he fell, was only the second in command. He knew all along! No little demon needed to tell him that.
In Matthew 8:28-29, we are told that Jesus and His disciples encountered two men who were possessed with devils. When they beheld Jesus [i.e., their CREATOR God...the LORD God Himself]...they cried, "What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou SON OF GOD? art thou come hither to torment us BEFORE our time?" They recognized who He was...the LORD God [the SON] who is the only begotten of the Father [i.e., the Lord GOD].

Maybe, but then maybe satan had no idea that jesus was the son of god. If satan knew jesus was the son of god, why did he leave him alone for thirty years?
He KNEW He was the Son of God, but he (Satan) wanted to have that place. He knew it allright.
When did satan get the light bulb moment? The moment he could say... AH HA! This one is Jesus!
When Jesus created the angel that would later become Satan. That's when Lucifer acknowledged Jesus' existence.
Now if you are talking about Jesus' human existence then it had to be shortly after Jesus was born. If Herod was capable of gleaning OT prophecy concerning the Messiah and dispatching a search party for the infant Jesus, then Satan would be aware of Herod's intentions, if he didn't plant them in his head in the beginning.
True, but satan didnt know who jesus (the human Jesus) was or he would have got herod to kill the right baby.
Herod was advised by the wise men from the east, who in actual fact had little knowledge of jewish prophecy. They were star gazers.
