Believers in Jesus say he will come again. Where did he go and why?

Why did he leave? Where did he go? What was he doing for 2000 years?

Ask Paul....

Yes. I understand. But I also understand Paul is misunderstood. They think Paul wrote about how to be loved by God but everything he wrote is about escaping from Babylon the harlot. They say Paul is to be obeyed so that everlasting life can be ours. Paul is to be obeyed only for leaving Babylon. He wrote about the way out not the way into the Kindgdom of God. Jesus spoke about THAT. Paul did not usurp Jesus' authority as the WAY. Jesus is the way into the Kingdom of God. Not Paul.

And the spirit winds blew all that Jesus wrote away....
And we're left with only Paul's words, and apparantly the apostle's.
Ahhhhh...the memories they all had.

I just knew you had something to say! Thanks for sharing.

I disagree though. I think what they wrote is right and what we hear is wrong. But not all.

Jesus is only said to be coming again during judgement day. Something I would like staved off for as long as possible. Even how he is suppose to come back is only from the book of revelations which seems less like a prophecy and more like an allegorical account of rome's persecution of early christians.
Here's how I see it:
1.)Most people I have met said he left because for now he played his part and must wait for judgement day.
2.) He supposedly sits at the right hand of God.
3.) Eating bon bons :p I'm kidding but I'm not sure, maybe pleading to God to give humans one more chance?

I don't think we will find Jesus in the flesh.
And I'm not surprised some one made report...he went that ^ way!

2000yrs ago....many people believed Heaven to be 'up there'.
Where else would it be?

After His death.....where else would He go?

So....someone had to be a witness.

Could anyone make denial?.......How?

But I'm not expecting to spot Him hanging about like Superman.

More like a knock on my door......and His Presence up close....
Face to face.

I hope it goes well.

Jesus wen to India after escaping death on the Cross; in which he was near dead but not dead.
Please view following documentaries; one from BBC and the other from Government of India:

Nah. He totally went to Japan:

The Little-Known Legend of Jesus in Japan | History | Smithsonian

Having run afoul of the Roman authorities, Jesus was arrested and condemned to crucifixion for heresy. But he cheated the executioners by trading places with the unsung, if not unremembered, Isukiri. To escape persecution, Jesus fled back to the promised land of Japan with two keepsakes: one of his sibling’s ears and a lock of the Virgin Mary’s hair. He trekked across the frozen wilderness of Siberia to Alaska, a journey of four years, 6,000 miles and innumerable privations. This alternative Second Coming ended after he sailed to Hachinohe, an ox-cart ride from Shingo.

Upon reaching the village, Jesus retired to a life in exile, adopted a new identity and raised a family. He is said to have lived out his natural life ministering to the needy. He sported a balding gray pate, a coat of many folds and a distinctive nose, which, the museum brochure observes, earned him a reputation as a “long-nosed goblin.”

When Jesus died, his body was left exposed on a hilltop for four years. In keeping with the customs of the time, his bones were then bundled and buried in a grave—the same mound of earth that is now topped by a timber cross and surrounded by a picket fence. Though the Japanese Jesus performed no miracles, one could be forgiven for wondering whether he ever turned water into sake.

He is dead. Never seen anyone come back from the dead..

The Cross is final. Turning to dust is all he could be doing for 2000 in my opinion

Hi Savage..... :)
There are so many opinions as to what happened to Jesus.

Pilate's wife instructed him to leave Jesus alone.
Pilate did not think that Jesus was guilty of anything.
Pilate allowed Jesus to be taken from the cross after only a few hours, but ordered the brigands on either side to be dispatched (broken legs).
Pilate reprieved the insurrectionist called 'Jesus, Son of the Father.'
Judas took Jesus' place upon the cross.
Jesus got pardoned and exiled.
Jesus got away to Kashmir where he lived and died.
Jesus got exiled to Gaul with Mary M, where they had a daughter.
Jesus died and his body was removed by Joseph of A.
Jesus died and was resurrected.
Jesus was executed and thrown in a pit (a Forum member's belief)
Some even say that Jesus was mythical.

I have not made up my mind yet.... :)

I think these verses from the Quraan would answer your question

4:157 And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah ." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.

4:158Sahih International
Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise.

3:55
[Mention] when Allah said, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.

Want to say His Body is done?...fine with me.

But if Someone like Him should fail to crossover....the rest of us are dust.

Could be turning to dust is all you can do.

I still believe I will go on.

I believe He went into space and by inference to another sphere where there would be helpers, material and technology.

In John 14 He said that he was going to prepare a place for us with many rooms. Since He returns with the New Jerusalem, it could be that the New Jerusalem is the place Jesus promised to prepare for us and that is a very big project.

I wouldn't knock it because I believe God is fully capable of enjoying life or He wouldn't have bothered making it enjoyable for us. Maybe He is enjoying watching the USA beat Ghana in the World Cup.

I don't know if he enjoys everything;) if you catch my drift. But I can imagine Jesus seeing the game turning towards God and saying "You did read my christmas list":p

Why did he leave?
Because they killed him?

Where did he go?
Where do we go when we die?

What was he doing for 2000 years?
Is that an appropriate question? If you believe in heaven, does heaven have 24 hour days and the passage of weeks, months, and years?

That raises an interesting question for you? What does eternity look like to you? Does it have a beginning date and an end date? If not, when is eternity? And then those are are "in" eternity, where - or more appropriately "when" are they? All the answers you seek are in this. ;)

Jesus was executed and thrown in a pit (a Forum member's belief)

I believe we dont know what happened.

But he was put on a cross, this is certain, as is his death on the cross. Romans were masters of butchering people in inhumane ways.

The scholarly consensus is that he died on the cross. Typical for peasants, was that they were left on the cross for dogs and vultures. If a extra cross was needed, they would have thrown the body in a pit.

It is thought by scholars that his burial story is just that.

Reality was that Jesus was fighting the Hellenistic corruption in the temple, I find it funny that people believe a rich hellenist would run to his aid in death and provide his family tomb for a Galilean peasant teacher who was a known trouble maker. Anyone being near him or even acting as a friend would have been seen as an accomplis and would have risked being labeled a rebel themselves.

That explains why all the gospels make the REAL disciples all look to be cowards.

The unknown authors were all far removed from the actual events and are creating a mythological story that build divinity to equals the Emperors divinity, so they could make the movement more apealing to those already worshipping the Emperor. my opinion.

This new movement was for gentiles, not Jews, and thus, it is a Hellenistic retelling of a Jewish event, by people very skilled in rhetoric.

And if you dont understand how rhetoric was used during this period, your eyes are closed to the real history involved in these events.
