I'm content to remain where I am, but I'm also open to moving somewhere that does not have a Homeowner's Association.

Right now I pay a condo fee and an HOA fee monthly, and, while it's doable at the moment, such fees invariably increase as time goes by. So, I've been looking at places in areas where HOAs haven't taken over. Of course, that would mean I'd likely have to get a car again (ugh).

It's not an emergency right now, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for an offer I simply cannot refuse.

I've made peace with where I'm at. It's a bit boring, but who's to say wherever else will be better? Maybe 10 years down the line I'll want to move again. But for now I'm good.

I used to live in the driftless region of Iowa which, though secluded and rural, was amazing and beautiful. You couldn't go five miles without seeing a sight that would be picture-worthy for those nature calendars. I'm not far from it, I moved a couple hours west of it. It's still fairly rural here, but there is a comfortable amount of civilization, without it being too crunched up like Ames or Des Moines where driving would feel like a chore.

Not to mention, the cost of living is a lot cheaper in more boring areas like this.

Moved country again a year ago.

On my 8th city and 5th country now.

FWIW, a lot of people who have moved abroad or to a new city, even happily and for a long time, increasingly miss home (be that city or country) as time goes by. Not everyone, but more than you would think, even among those who couldn’t wait to get away and thought they’d never go back.

There is something to be said for staying “home”, but then again there is something to be said for going away :D

Home has everything I wanted except good snowboarding.
And I do that no more.

I have a laundry list of countries I have contemplated moving to.

(In no specific order)
Canada
New Zealand
Australia
Norway
Sweden
Denmark
Holland
England
Scotland
Ireland
Wales
Switzerland

Can't make my mind up so I'll stay put, for now. I'll visit each and that may help me decide.

Yes, I plan on moving back to California in the next 1-2 years. I can't stand it out here anymore, and my friends keep moving away to different states. It's time for me to go.

Eventually I may end up in Europe.
For all the poo talk California gets, no one else has redwood trees. I've thought about it myself. The Lost Coast seems appealing to me right now.

People exaggerate things. The worst issues are the costs of living and lack of housing, but that's all over. Shoot, even if I ended up homeless, I'd rather be homeless in California. Better weather. But I plan on being a student out there, so I should be okay.

Sounds like the rest of the UK these days. I don't think I've seen a week of dry weather all this year. It's July - 15 degrees, windy and rainy. Again.

Cheshire was very nice last week with super hot temperatures in the low 20s or so im told

I'm getting the blame for this weeks poor weather

Per the thread title and poll.

Whether or not you can move, do you wish to do so or not?
I have held off replying to this thread because I know I have a, let us call it an 'itch', to move that gets really strong every about three years.

I grew up an Army Brat, my father being active duty from before my birth until after my 18th birthday.
So we moved on average every three years.

And I do not mean we moved across town, or across state.
I mean we moved from New Jersey to Montana to Texas to Alaska to Germany....

So every three-ish years I get a strong desire to move away.
It does not matter that I really like the area I am currently in and have been in for the last 19+ years.

I voted stay put in the San Francisco Bay Area but if the Donald and his henchmen in the courts and congress take over the whole asylum there are other places in the world I could be happy. I just wouldn't want to go through the horrors of actually moving.

Then it explained that this was because people naturally came together to assure needs were met without the need of government requirements, and there had been little need for a justice system, as there were seldom any major issues.

I thought that sounded beautiful...

That does indeed sound beautiful.

There's also certain places you're required to wear traditional wear in...

I love traditional wear.

Me too! (On my Pinterest page, I have many images of traditional wear saved. Today, I was thinking about how I hate wearing trousers and would rather wear some kind of long robe when I have to be outside my apartment.)

I voted the 4th option: "I wanted to move to another city or state, and I have already done that."

I wanted to move out of Illinois back in the 90s, and circumstances landed me in western Pennsylvania. I've moved around a bit since...3 years in West Virginia and had considered moving there permanently until life circumstances changed, went back to western PA, spent a fair amount of time in Ohio for work in the 2010s, but am back PA.

I'm considering shifting to a more of a nomadic lifestyle in the next year or so. No real desire to leave the States, though.
