Which prophecies did Jesus fulfill as to be the Messiah?

How do you know Mark existed? Maybe when it mentions Mark it's referring to water. After all you can have a water mark.

My Bible studies have been reset, as I'm generally starting over but to a believer in Jesus, Jesus has in the future done everything necessary to be the messiah. Its a matter of belief, not proof; since everything hasn't been completed outside of faith in Jesus. In faith, however, everything 'Has' been completed. Outside of faith it hasn't. A believer lives 'In Christ' not outside of Christ.

For someone who doesn't believe in Jesus there is every reason to say that Jesus didn't 'Fulfill' messianic prophecy, since the world is still in need of a lot of improvement. Obviously everything in the world is still in need of improvement, so its clear that the messiah hasn't completed whatever work they are expected to complete.

It's really very simple, based on the Tanach and the jewish prophets he didn't fulfill any of the prophesies other than riding a donkey and being from bethlehem.

If one want to ignore those facts, that fine. However, jesus being the jewish messiah is disproved based on jewish scriptures.

If one wants to ignore jewish scripture and go by the christian bible that is fine too.

So if he hasn't completed his job, than how could he be the Messiah.

Do you know how many Jews, not even 20 years ago were 100% sure that the Lubavitcher Rebbe was the Messiah? They had as much faith as you could imagine. But once the person passes away, and hasn't completed his task. That's it! It's over, he isn't the Messiah. Jews didn't then go on and write a book that they called the New bible to try and render stories and accounts to make people believe that this person will indeed be the Messiah.

People have claimed to be Messiahs in history. Many were believed by some. Some were believed by many. But at some point, you got to face the reality that once he hasn't accomplished his job, that you were wrong. It's okay to be wrong.

Ask CMike, I believe he is of the Chabad denomination. Do you know how much the Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson has accomplished in his life? Do you know how many followers he had, and still has after his death? The numbers are only growing and they are doing so exponentially. However no one believes he is the Messiah anymore, because he died and hasn't accomplished the prophecies.

Doesn't matter if they are united. They have gone from a few thousand in the land to over 5 million. The number of people who believe in the Abrahamic god has gone from .25% of world population to 51%. The prophecies are unfolding. The dissolution of war is the "Final ending", the happily ever after to the long unfolding saga.

Nothing but doomsday phobia.

Almost 2000 years and still waiting. And wether certain religions actually worship the one god is nothing but a claim to be viewed as the successor of judaism.

I doubt it. There are many things in the christian bible that are blatantly wrong.

The most blatant one is how Pilate (the poor innocent victim) was told by the jews what to do when in fact he was a brutal oppressor of the jews who would care less about the opinion of the jews was.

Also the stories of how jesus was almost killed by the jews by supposedly savings someone's life on shabbos. However, any jew who knows jewish law knows that it's permissable to violate the sabbath to save a life.

There is a lot there where anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of judaism knows is utterly false.

Also since G-D said there is only him in numerous passages and no one else has divine power he couldn't have risen from the dead.
Maybe he was in a good mood that day. A guy can't be a "brutal oppressor" all the time. I could see it happening. Pilate finds himself a new girl friend. He is all happy and giddy, he then says to himself, "I think I'll give this Jesus dude a break." Then the mean Jews talk him out of it.

I guess you didn’t read the fine print in the New Testament. Jesus had pulled an Arnold Schwarzenegger before he had left, “I’ll be back”. The orthodox and conservatives refer to it as “The Second Coming”.

Actually I go to a chabad synagogue, but I am not a black hatter.

Yup he is right. There were a lot of people who believed that the Rebbe (Schneerson) was the messiah.

One big problem though...He didn't fulfill the messianic prohesies and thus he couldn't be the messiah.

Funny, I was reading about him last night. He was from Brooklyn. I saw a documentary about him years ago. I'm from New Jersey. I'm kind of local to him or was.

I believe you! In fact, I will tell my kids to write a book about you 70 years after you die.
Both my parents were Virgos. And another thing. My first name is really Preston but I also use Roger. The name Preston comes from "priest town".

It was sort of fascinating observing the adoration that he inspired. I have to say that I was surprised that so many continued to think he was the future messiah even after his death. But Isn't the number of Jews thinking he was the messiah decreasing?

No. I believe prophecies are bunk and messiahs are bunk. But that's not what I'm arguing. I'm arguing that certainty about the fulfillment of prophecy is an error.
If you want me to properly explain the prophecies, you have to tell my your criteria. I can easily explain how he fulfilled them all before his death…

Hello AmbiguousGuy, please explain your contradictory statements to me. First you say that certainity about the fulfillment of prophecy is an error. Then you say that you can state how prophecy fulfillment occurred. How do you reconcile your two statements?

I think the Jews who believed he was the messiah after his death were those that aren't really learned in Jewish Scripture and Tradition.

I personally don't know of any Jew who still believes he might be the Messiah.
