White Trash Recipes

Smoke

Done here.
My new invention: The peanut butter and banana smoothie. Ingredients: peanut butter, bananas, yogurt, milk, sweetener of your choice. Yumalicious. And if you used ice cream instead of yogurt, voila, a P.B. & B milkshake!
That sounds delicious. I'd make one right now if I had an unflavored yogurt.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

YUM - sounds delish!

I do wonder, however, if this truly qualifies as a white trash recipe. I am not sure that anyone living a true white trash lifestyle would have yogurt in their house. Or a blender, come to think of it.

And I'm sure the word "smoothie" wouldn't be in their vocabulary.

Sounds a little yuppie to me...:sarcastic

No, I have violated forum rules in posting this off-topic serendipity. In fact, I think I'll name this beverage The Off-Topic Serendipity.

When not trying to hurt myself....
One can of green beans....equal portion of white rice.
Cook separate....mix well.
Add butter...just enough to allow the mixing.
Salt.

Have Pepsi.

My Iranian ex-pat brother-in-law makes a style of rice which embodies the best of white trash cooking.
Put butter in a pan/pot. Cook rice in it, darn near burning it on the bottom.
The rice on top is OK, but the reward is the buttery crispy rice glob on the bottom. Yum!

Last nights dinner....

Open cupboard, see six cans of differing varieties of beans. (Red, Black, Kidney, White, etc...)
Throw them all in the slow cooker.
Add diced canned ham. Salt and pepper.
Throw together scratch biscuits.

Mmmm...good stuff.

Koreans have something sort of like that too, and they make a sort of rice soup out of it (with the leftover rice that's stuck to the bottom of the rice cooker after it sits there for hours) - it's awesome. They also make some sort of chips out of that dried rice too - and believe it or not, they're good!

Puerto Ricans call that placa. I was taught to ensure that a nice placa forms on the bottom of the pot when I make rice.

(A Puerto Rican lady was the one who taught me to make rice.)

Tell me about it. What soup isn't improved by adding yesterday's kim chee. Well....not cream of mushroom.

Kim chee - Korean trash food! (Not sure they would call themselves "white trash...")

Real Recipes from my Arkansas Granny and her Kin for Fancy Cookout Fixins.

Fryin' Cabbage at a Cookout
Take a head of cabbage cut into potato sized wedges.
Salt and pepper each side of the cabbage.
Wrap each wedge with two slices of Slab Bacon
then wrap in foil. Bake like a potato for 40 mins at 450.
Throw on the grill for grill marks. Drink Beer throughout entire process.

Granny's Conway De-lite
Y'all take two cans a fruit cocktail like what ya get from tha Dollar Store
open and mix it with a package of instant white nilla puddin.
Serve in Red Solo cups all fancy like. Or you can use Granny's
old butter tub tuppuh-ware.
