Who is God?

Authentic love for the truth is dispassionate. It leans neither to the left nor to the right. It simply sees reality just as it exists. Nothing more. Nothing less.

"My heart burns like fire but my eyes are as cold as dead ashes."

That which is not seen with the natural eye, that which is Spirit is the only Reality, for only that which is Spirit is Forever.......

Truth, as all that is Truly Good, is Spirit and must be received, yet there are multitudes who receive of Truth and then?

Sadly, they use what they have received in the evolution of the "I", and that which was Good becomes but a mutation, "a form of g-dliness"used and abused by this world's philosophical, theo'ry'logical religions ;-(

Yet there is hope!

For Miracles do happen.......

Some one has quoted Osho.

The quote describes the grave. Apparently the participant using the quote did not see that possibility. Or maybe he thinks it is something else.

No. It is YOU who thinks that living fully in the Present Moment is the grave, but clinging to the past or some notion of the future is the actual grave, because both are aspects of linear time. If you are born, you must die. However, when you drop both past and future, and immerse yourself in the eternal Present Moment [where you happen to be anyway], where there is no history, where there is no remembrance of things past, there is no birth and there is no death. Birth and death are transcended and understood as illusions. By living in the eternal Present Moment, you become deathless. You awaken.

"Before Abraham was, I AM"

There is no such thing as life. Life feeds upon that which is dead.

There is no such thing as death. Death feeds upon the living.

They are merely transformations from one state to another.

You have been duped into believing they are real. By believing they are real, you live in the dual world, where you suffer. When you at last understand them as One, suffering comes to an end because you are no longer deluded.

"All this world is filled with coming and going*. Show me the path where there is no coming and there is no going"

godnotgod> not born; not dead:D

The Unborn; The Undead.

Clinging to the past and the future are the real graves, because you do so out of fear. Fear kills. Enlightenment dispels all fear because you now see that what caused you anxiety was based upon illusion. The rope moving in the wind was NOT a snake after all. What your ordinary conditioned mind was convinced was real, you now see clearly that it was not.

*Coming and going = "Birth and Death"

When someone points to the moon, do you look at the moon, or do you merely attack their pointing finger?

Perhaps you would like to have a discussion. After all, this IS a forum, where people participate in that activity. If you wish to have a discussion, where there is an exchange of ideas, and where people answer questions put to them, I am perfectly willing. Would you care to answer one or two of the questions posed to you so a discussion can proceed? Likewise, I will be glad to answer any of yours.

Thank you very much.:D

I'm not buying it. I have a past. I have a future. I have a linear existence.

However....after I die....and my spirit stands free of my carcass....
That's different.
But I'm not going to surrender perception.
And movement, however you want to describe it, requires your ability to perceive where you have been, where you are now, and where you are going.

The inability to do this much would be a blind existence, devoid of touch or feeling. You would be unable to interact.
Dead.

If your thoughts remain intact as such a shallow existence befalls you, insanity is the only possible consequence.

Friend godnotgod,

When I found out I was God, I burned my Bible

Really?

Damn!

Am still searching who, what, where; unnecessarily when all the time it was *YOU*!

Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jokes aside.
Yes, truly *god* is the universal energy and individual carries the same energy individually. So in Sanatan Dharama there is a mantra AHM BRAHMASMI or *I am God* and in sufism Mansur had declared "An ul haq* meaning the same *I am god*
Each of us is on that journey to discover that fact and uncover the dust that has settled on it.

If you insist, but maybe IT has YOU! :D

Gurdjieff once said that we must learn to live with one foot in this world, and one foot out of it. We all still need to continue living in ordinary reality; if you plunge into identification with it, however, you will lose contact with your authentic self. To lose oneself in identification is to act out a drama in a script written by others. You are but a character in a play, asleep, thinking yourself awake. This is the Third Level of Consciousness, that of Waking Sleep. The past and the future that you identify with are not who you really are. Only when you dissolve the marks placed on you by your society will you be able to return to your authentic self, which is beyond linear time, past and future, and beyond life and death. You will see this when you begin to awaken and enter the Fourth State of Consciousness, that of Self-Transcendence, or Objective Awareness.

My question for you is this: exactly who is it that has a past, a future, and a linear existence?

Jesus had it right. He told his followers that they were mistaken to think they would find eternal life within the scriptures.

They had the cart ahead of the horse, and he knew it.

Go get the spiritual experience first, then go read the scriptures with a now properly transformed mind. Only with a mind so transformed (raised to the level of the divine essence) can one actually understand what one is reading.

During my practice, trees were no longer trees, and mountains no longer mountains.
When I became enlightened, trees were once again trees, and mountains once again mountains."

How long have you known this....:p

What age did you realize that?

I first suspected it when, after several heavy drinking bouts, I would awaken the next day each time to people telling me about how, coincidentally, tens of thousands had been slaughtered the night before in the wink of an eye. My left hand seemed to have no clue as to what my right was really up to. It is a terrible affliction.:D

Several written accounts of my murderous id escapades have survived. For example:

16But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: 17But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee:
18That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 20

Then there was that Flood mishap.....thingie...

I just don't have a recollection of ever having done any of it. Strange.
My friends tell me it has something to do with my Persona and my Shadow.:seesaw:

"...let not thy left hand know what thy right right hand doeth..."
Matthew 6:3

It's not an affliction...it is instruction.

Some of your posting has the proper words, but the application is misleading you. Under no situation can you surrender where you come from, or where you stand. Your awareness must keep this intact.
Without these reference points you cannot direct yourself.
Your sense of direction would be compromised.

...an instruction that is an affliction; just one more reason to burn your Bible.:D

Under no situation can you surrender where you come from, or where you stand.

...unless, of course, one discovers, one fine day, that "where you come from" or "where you stand" have little to do with your authentic self. It is on that day that you will cease to follow a script written by others, and become a self-directed individual instead.

Your awareness must keep this intact.

To be truly aware and to live as a product of the past is oxymoronic.

Without these reference points you cannot direct yourself.

You need them to navigate in this world, but true direction comes from within.

Your sense of direction would be compromised.

When you live fully in the Present Moment, you always know exactly where you are.

To live according to your history is to live according to memory; memory is knowledge stored from the past, and the past is already dead. Contrary to our social indoctrination, the past does not create the present; the present creates the past.

...you see...the trick is to get your left hand working in unison with your right, so that left and right are no longer an issue.

Burning your Bible with both hands working together then becomes an act of supreme liberation; a sacrament, if you will.

It is kind of like when the sole surviving astronaut in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, systematically disabled the memory banks from HAL, the paranoid computer system that ran everything on the ship, thereby putting man in the drivers seat, instead of relying on some external "authority".

Often, I am tempted to use a science fiction plot to back up a philosophical
viewpoint, and there can be so much similarity in the line of thought.....why not?

But this line of thought is leaning toward the surrender of who you are...where you are....and where you are going.

Take another look in the mirror. You are an assembly.
Mind, body and soul.
You can lose your mind....that's bad.
You can lose your body...you will.
If you lose your soul....you cease to exist.

As assembly, you could be taken apart.
But there's no purpose in creating an individual...only to have him dissipate....altogether.
Your soul is that breath from God, the life that you are.
Your mind guides it...from one place to another.
Your body is only the means to generate the individual you are.

You speak of surrender....you speak too much of it.
Who will have your soul...when 'you' no longer exist?

You are still referring to the temporal self; the one that is a complete and total fraud. That self was created, and is, therefore, subject to destruction. He is an artifact, a created "thing", totally at the mercy of its creator. He walks; he talks, he crawls on his belly like a reptile. Nothing more than a puppet which moves at the whim of its 'creator'. He is not real, though he firmly believes himself to be so.

That is not what I am referring to. The authentic self was never created, and can never be destroyed. It is unborn, and so, can never die.

And what of Body, Mind and Soul?.....

The Human Route

Coming empty-handed, going empty-handed -- that is human.
When you are born, where do you come from?
When you die, where do you go?
Life is like a floating cloud which appears.
Death is like a floating cloud which disappears.
The floating cloud itself originally does not exist.
Life and death, coming and going*, are also like this.
But there is one thing which always remains clear.
It is pure and clear, not depending on life and death.

What is that one pure and clear thing?

Zen Master Seung Sahn

The "one pure and clear thing" is neither created nor destroyed; it cannot be "taken apart". :D

*coming and going = birth and death

Sixth Zen Patriarch
