Who on this Forum have you Developed an Improbable Admiration, Respect and/or Friendship for?

I couldn't stand @Katzpur years ago, too, and didn't think we'd ever be friends at some point. Turns out I was missing out on one of the sweetest people I've talked to here.
I just wanted to say one thing about @Debater Slayer that I think is particularly commendable. He said that years ago he couldn't stand me. I never really had any feelings one way or the other about him, as we'd never really interacted much. But what impressed me the most about him and made him truly one of my favorite RFers was that he instigated a personal conversation with me, for no other reason than to attempt to get past his negative feelings for me. He made the first move, and that had to be extremely difficult. When I think of the few people on this forum that I really don't like, I can't imagine having the courage and humility to do what Debater Slayer did -- approach them directly and say, "Let's talk. I've never liked you but I want to change that." I don't think he has any idea how deeply that gesture touched me.

Well, I highly admire and draw inspiration from @Jayhawker Soule, but that's not what I found improbable. What I really found improbable was that I was never once on the receiving end of any of his scathing remarks--and that in and of itself made me feel like I was probably doing something right, since his comments often strike me as deeply insightful and thought-provoking even when harsh. :D
There was a time when I was scared to death of @Jayhawker Soule. Then one time, he said something to me like, "It just pisses me off that I like you so much." I was speechless, and I posted a smilie (one of the good ones we had way back when) of someone who had just fainted. He replied, "Get up off the floor," and we've been friends ever since. He is such a brilliant man and I feel honored to have him as a friend.

That's got to be the most charming exchange I've heard of between two RFers in ages. Thank you so much for sharing that!

Yeah, @Katzpur is someone to be cherished. She's got a lot of integrity.

Whereas I've always been a great admirer of @Katzpur (Kathryn) since day one. A smart, funny, informative lady. A genuine RF treasure. :)
You guys are too nice. :p And you are both among my favorites, too. I'm starting to worry, though. Seems like the most of the people I get along with best are the atheists. The Christians here generally take a different view of me. :D You guys, @LuisDantas and @Revoltingest are all class acts and I greatly admire all of you.

I guess that's what this thread is really about, huh? It's about "improbable respect and friendship," and not just respect and friendship for people you have a lot in common with on the surface.

Someone I've really come to cherish and admire is @Sakeenah, who is a devout, conservative Muslim in contrast to my being a ridiculously untethered, progressive spirit. Both "cherish" and "admire" are not too strong of terms here. Her dignity and graciousness. are inspirations to me.

I don't really know @Sakeenah. I guess I'm going to have to make a point of doing so.

Or me stepping in to defend Mormons against supposedly "Christian" attackers. You really cannot make this kind of stuff up. LOL.

You'll love her! She's well worth getting to know. Just PM her. She won't bite.....too hard.*

*Just kidding! She won't bite at all. And she'll almost certainly be delighted to get to know you.

@Revoltingest hasn't given up on me yet, I don't think. So that's good. :)
Of course, I deeply appreciate @Debater Slayer and everything he brings to the table. I'm so happy that technology allows us to connect from across the world.
I've only just begun to get to know @YmirGF and though we often come down on opposite sides of an issue (#feminism) we have way more in common than we don't. I always enjoy our interactions.

God, I'm gonna have a Sally Fields moment soon. *sniffle*
PS: I hope you recovered from your flu bout. I'm still getting tired, at the drop of a hat, but otherwise have fully recovered.

I am on a phone so my comments will be shorter than I'd like because I find typing on it difficult.

I admire @Sakeenah for putting up with so much Islam bashing and remaining calm (at least on screen).

I like @Jayhawker Soule for his forwardness and ability to admit to being wrong, which seems a rarity here.

I admire @Prestor John for being so civil and tolerant.

I like @Kelly of the Phoenix for stating her opinions without reserve and we seem to get along in spite of our great difference in worldviews.

@Sakeenah is indeed very much a classy person, although I can only assume that my views are at the very least unpalatable to her.

You really ought to try and meet her, @Katzpur dear.
