why a bible?

i belive that many(and at one time me included) use the bible to reinforce there myth formation.

i belive that most christians belive that there path is the only way to heaven, ie the chuch of christ belive that unless your bapitez in there church your going to hell, no matter what you belive.

i belive that the christan religion, at one time killed people that would not belive as thay do, i belive now that they ostersize people, so yes they are learing as they are being margenalized, it would be nice to keep the good in christanity and remove the bad, and yes there is quite a bit bad.
i belive that the christians(religious people) read the bible to reinforce what they have been condition to belive. i belive that religion can constrict peoples ideals, and hopes. ie women and paul.

i belive that if jesus was real, he would have written a "bible" i belive what we have is the saved manuscripts of a changing religion, that any thing that contrary to what we have in the time of the councle of nechi was burned and destroyed, and that the fathers of the church, not god, placed the books in the canton.

i dont belive that god would want a bible, rember when the jews want a king? for a god that professed a personal relationship there is a lot of comunal indocternation. i belive that most religious people have a relationship with there bible, not god. ie i could tell you how great a moutain was, send you pics, and testomoneys from others that have seen it, or i could get you and take you to it and let you decide yourself.

oh and boys scouts, and rule books. there hand book was clearly easer to read, and they dont profess in the killing of the nonbelivers, or the keeping of slaves, or the oppressing of women, or that you get something you dont deserve, the scouts teach accountablity, and not to lie, two things the bible has a problem with.

yes there are good things in the bible, but so far as accountablity it does teach that you leave everything at the feet of jesus, no? it blames satan for all evilness, no? it teaches that any part of missunderstanding of the bible/church/dogma/pasture/ denomanation/ and or cread is to blame the person that questions, even in lighit of a bad answer. how can we hold god accountable? could we? if we could how would we even know? the problem is too many people belive that they speack for god, and that give them the right to be held as unquestionable, popes and preachers alike, even the bible stands as a belived voice from god, existing beyond, a place of reproch and correction, even thought books have clearly been added and removed. like some written holy virgin that gets pregnate and yet stays a virgin. the bible changes from a holy jewish tomb, to a mesantic jewish tomb, to a catoholic holy tomb, to a prody holy tomb. and all the wile it remains a "clear, and correct voice of god" the problem is nothing matters when you dealing with faith, its all makebelive.

boyscouts and ropes brings to mind david caridean, religions tend to cover the darkness of our souls with hope and little more, holding out that god will come and remove our darkness, keeps too many in darkness too long. hope is not a bad thing, but when it stops us from trying, it stops us from beeing. and in the end we find ourselfs dangling from the rope of hope in the closit of religion, dead on the line.

Amazing that you should mention "Book of the Twins since I'm a Gemini....

I'm not sure how hope could ever be a bad thing, and hope doesn't have to be based on a religious agenda. Although to the Christian hope seems to have a deeper meaning. Hope doesn't keep us from trying but only boosts our determination further.....
I'm sure you have hopes and dreams of something and don't stop until you achieve your goal......
As far as the Bible I know there are many discrepancies and I don't hold to the fact that it is the word of God, but the inspired word of God. I guess that would be 2nd hand information though wouldn't it? He said, she said that He said....

But afterall a lot of the Bible is paraphrased or left to the writers own interpretation....

ummm i dont know, maybe because the mind of men are easly confused, and a edited human document that at best is vage about the conduct of human to human and human to god conduct, really searves as a sudo-god, much like the golden calf, most humans want some thing they can posses and dance around in frount of. god forbid a god that requiers you act out of kindness and exceptance. just and obersataion, chrisanity is not unified, they do worship a same comunal god, but there belife are vastly diffrent, and they hate each other. i think a paper bible contributes to the disunion. it allowes its followers to pick and chooses, and make it up as it goes. it produces people like jim jones and david korish. and for the common religion person it stops there personal religious search, as the group polices there members, and controls what they think buy seting the standards by which there religion is based and judged on. faith does not come by hearing the word of god, indoctranation come by hearing the word of god. so i belive that with out a bible we would have more faith, because we would have to.

Why A Bible? I personally like mine because it is in a leopard case and it looks quite fashionable when I carry it.....
