Why are people afraid of their beliefs being questioned ?

You just stated they can't happen. That is a belief about them. Are we playing semantic games now?

No sorry that isn't a belief, I don't have to believe a man can't fly, because you say he can, and of course i'm talking about flying without any help.

Religion is one of those big taboo topics that many people are terrified to touch: too afraid that others will question their religious loyalties and just as afraid to step on the minefield that is the overhyped sensitivity of some believers.

People, after all, live and die in the names of religious values, so the stakes of what we are playing with couldn’t be any higher. And yet, few fields can make many human beings as unwilling to face the evidence as religion. It is exactly because these ideas are so central to their lives that they don’t want anyone to plant doubts in their minds.

So, is religion really for the weak minded, is it just a crutch for those who need something to just believe in, something to make their life worth living, then if this is so, should we or not still questions these peoples beliefs, or should we just leave them where they are happy in their beliefs. Then again if these people don’t like their beliefs questioned, why in the world would they join a forum where we should be free to question others beliefs.

I have been in trouble many times on forums from questioning mainly Christians beliefs, its so frustrating, I can question most other belief systems with no problem, but again when its Christians all hell brakes out.

So should I just keep my big mouth shut and say nothing, or should I tiptoe around egg shells trying no to say the wrong words, as I said its frustrating.
I agree. I wait for some one to question my belief. That is why forums are so amazing.

Thank you Benoni, its good to meet someone who understands, and yes its healthy to be questioned, or to question.

I believe religion is based on trying to control what you believe into a religious box; where true faith in God is an uncovering and searching for something so awesome and incredible that it always get better.

In the OT the Children of Israel had to gather new manna (food from God) every day. If they tried to gather yesterday’s manna it stunk. God wants us to gather new manna not defend yesterday manna.

And again thank you for such wisdom, yes we need to flow in truth and not hold on to beliefs, if we do we imprison ourselves, and miss out on what is truly there.

I'm not afraid . I just don't claim to have every answer.
Understood. The answers are there but you will only see them in part with religion. Let the Spirit of truth lead and guide you into all truth.

In the OT Aaron was also a judge, and by the aid of the Urim and Thummim, he could render a perfect decision. These words mean "lights" and "perfections" and signified the perfect light by which the high priest could ascertain God’s will in any matter.

Aaron looked at something "outside of himself" (the stones of Urim and Thummim), but we, as believers today, look "within" to the witness of the Spirit Who guides us into all truth and gives us light and understanding. One who knows he is a deep believer, knows that he can trust the rise and fall of the Spirit within him.

Thank you,

How hungry are you for God; how deep do you dare to probe, where your limits of God is in what you perceive who He is.

I read an article a while back from a man I respect as and believe anointed of God in many way. This man spoke of a dream he had where he was sitting at a table full of spiritual food, across the table was Jesus. They just sat there eating all this food which was right in front of them. As they sat there the man sup with Jesus, he noticed Billy Graham come to the table get a plate full of spiritual food, and he left. This happened over and over as he noticed many well known deep men of God eat from this table and then leave.

He then asks Jesus why they leaved after so little when there was so much to eat.

Jesus replied to Him, they were satisfied.

I had an experience happen to me where for a time I feasted and feasted on some deep anointed literature; let me tell you something; I am satisfied; sure I want more.

'Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if ANY MAN hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to HIM and sup with HIM and he with ME.' The church of the last days is the church of the INDIVIDUAL. It is the individual believer with a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP to Christ.

For the man who will forsake ALL ELSE and sup with Christ this is an age of glory, an hour of preparation such as we have never known. This is a time when the Spirit of God is speaking TO YOU AS AN INDIVIDUAL. He seeks to sup and dine and feast with you apart from all the religious confusion about us. It is a glorious day when we see the promise that is ours in this hour"

The religious Mind:

Then we have the religious mind, which is far closer to carnal them spiritual; this mind is not open unless you agree with their preconceived idealism, being it Catholic, Pentecostal, JW, Baptist this mind has the mind of what ever agenda listed above or one of the twenty thousand sisters of Babylon. They say they are following Christ (which means anointing) but in reality all they know is their preconceived bias.

God’s Word is like a river that flows:

Ezekiel 47: 4Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.

5Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over.

How deep is your river; up to your ankles or knees; or is it so deep and mighty all you can do is float as if flows and gets deep and wider continually.

I cannot and will not fit God’s Word in a man made box; it is like a river that flows and gets deeper and deeper; in fact so deep at times you cannot no longer stand; that is where faith comes in.

Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Religion is for hard walls that hold no water, the made of the hardest material on earth. man's religious bias.
