Why does God not talk to us?

And there are quite a few indigenous religions that make use of those drugs.

Indeed there are, and I hereby apologize for my extremely sarcastic reply that you quoted.

In my defense (read: excuse for being snarky) I do find it quite offensive when others will simply dismiss the Life Experiences of others, simply because they don't fit within their tight little Religious Expectations.

(of course... astute observers could well apply that to me, and my observations of religion in general. ;) 'Round and Round it goes-- where doeth it endeth? In the grave, of course! :D:p )

So, god is much-much weaker than us humans?

Who can not only overlook "sin" in others, but can see past the surface dirt, and find the good that is deep within?

That means humans are not only stronger than your god, but nicer and more compassionate too.

Whatya know?

I have my share of enemies. I sure don't wanna talk to them. You have yours too, I bet.

Americans wouldn't want to go where the US considers rogue states or places where they are not welcome. That is is just a justifiable reaction unless you want to put your life and limb in jeopardy.

How about the Lord God? He has spoken to those whom He have chosen to speak.

The Lord God has spoken to Adam, Noah, Moses and a couple of people including the Lord Jesus Christ and his apostles.

Hebrews 1:1-3 New International Version (NIV)
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

That is the past...but how about in the future? When the world ends and the new heavens and new earth is created for those people who the Lord God will save? This is written in the Bible:

Isaiah 65:17-24 New International Version (NIV)
See, I will create
new heavens and a new earth
.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.
But be glad and rejoice forever
in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight
and its people a joy.
I will rejoice over Jerusalem
and take delight in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying
will be heard in it no more.

“Never again will there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not live out his years;
the one who dies at a hundred
will be thought a mere child;
the one who fails to reach a hundred
will be considered accursed.
They will build houses and dwell in them;
they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
No longer will they build houses and others live in them,
or plant and others eat.
For as the days of a tree,
so will be the days of my people;
my chosen ones will long enjoy
the work of their hands.
They will not labor in vain,
nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune;
for they will be a people blessed by the Lord,
they and their descendants with them.
Before they call I will answer;
while they are still speaking I will hear.

For now [the present] the Lord God chooses us to have faith so if people would have faith they will be justified and really proven deserving to experience the new heavens and new earth at the end of time.

Romans 1:17 New International Version (NIV)
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

But of course not everybody has that faith, either people have chosen to do without it, or to adopt a wrong faith or simply could not understand it.

Hebrews 11:1 New International Version (NIV)
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

You gotta have faith - the right one.

So not going to read a bunch of bible-preaching. Sorry-- I've read the bible multiple times already. How do you think I became an unbeliever?

But. *I* am not a GOD.

I fully expect a GOD to RISE ABOVE such pettiness as you describe above.

Apparently your god is just a petty thing that is incapable of being other than a bully.

Sad.

Who decides which faith is "right"? YOU?

Since it can easily be proven that faith is worthless to determine which is which; faith is the blind, zero-evidence belief in some Authority Claim.

So, really.... how does one tell which is RIGHT? You cannot use faith... so what DO you use?

Why does God act as if he is non existent?

Well, I suppose the simplest answer is that God probably is non-existent. Or even if God does exist, then He's got a whole big universe to run, so why would He waste much time in this backwater called Earth?

And if God ever did show up to talk to us, we'd probably all get chewed out big time, making a typical fire-and-brimstone sermon sound like sweet talk.

Oh I have that vision all the Time particularly in regards to the thrashing the planet is receiving right now.

Yes, He does. He can be summoned, generated, revived. Just because you don't see Him doesn't mean He doesn't exist. You are simply blind.

On one hand it can be argued that He doesn't always exist but must be summoned.
My eyesight is fine, thanks

Well, opinions are like burps-- everyone does it, but it's usually a good idea to keep it secret.

As for your claim about jesus "revealing himself"? Well... there are nice drugs that have the exact same effect. Whatya know?

Moreover, there are people (such as myself) who were raised in christianity from birth, who truly sought out this jesus character for most of their existence, only to realize it was all a big lie...

Care to offer up another burp opinion?

I'm cautious to define terms when discussing the issues. What do you mean, "truly sought," because if you did truly seek, you WILL be a born again Christian before it's over, if not now, as I understand the Bible's description.

no. I would expect an actual Deity, wouldn't have a problem making itself heard-- if it wanted to.

The fact that it seems to not want to-- or simply doesn't care-- says that if it's real, it's not a good being.
I disagree. Sure, one who is strong could force attention to be paid, but those tactics would be interpreted as bullying. And bullying rarely produces the kind of results desired: Love, reciprocity, selflessness, openness. Instead, God asks, God whispers, God entices.

As per the Bible, God stands at the door and knocks. If someone opens, God will enter. If no one answers, God does not tear the door down with a fire axe and come in anyway.

Oh Ye Of Lying Disposition! What about Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged wasn't clear to you?

Your sort of Self-Righteous Judgmental <expletive> is one of MANY reasons why I am now an EX-christian!

So you can take your judgment and shove it right next to that brain you never use.
