Do you think Salman Rushdie should have been punished?
Salman Rushdie wrote a book. And no there was no need to condem him or punish him for writing a book.
Cat stevens to use his british name, actually say he was misrepresented when they say he was condeming Rushdie.
In my understanding the extremists within Islam do hold a wrong understanding of the Quran yes,So what they try to force upon others is false teaching. (not all muslim imams give false teaching)Would that be in the same that the Quran is supposedly being misrepresented?

Can you give an example of what terror he has done or if he has killed someone in name of Islam?I wonder what radicalised Cat Stevens so quickly or did he think he was just being Islamic.

he vigorously condemned the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001, you still think he is a terrorist?
And because of that you start to dislike only him or all islam? That is a question not an opinion form me.I watched his lips move and heard what he said about Salman.

You do realise it is the people who do wrong deed to other people, not the Islam in it self.?I dislike what Islam does to people.
Believe what you want.
The people were gathered at the foot of the mountain for a reason -- and they had taken three days to become ritually pure for the revelation for a reason.
Furthermore the verse stating that God spoke leaves out "to Moses" for a significant reason.
If you want to believe otherwise, that's on you.
You do realise it is the people who do wrong deed to other people, not the Islam in it self.?
If you have a 100 people who misunderstand the text in the quran, yes they can become really evil people, But if you then have millions of people who see that it is not right to kill because of belief or some words in the quran, would it not be the extremists who is wrong and not the religion?
Yes.Would there have been as many atrocities over the centuries and to this day if Islam had never existed?
Yes.
YesCould you say the same if Muhammad had never existed?
That is a bomb. Do you realize what you just said? The so called teachers in the mosque are false teachers, they do not teach true Islam.
Then how do you explain this:You do realise it is the people who do wrong deed to other people, not the Islam in it self.?
That is a bomb. Do you realize what you just said?
Muslims rely heavily on Scholars and Imams to interpret the Quran and Hadith. For the most part, they don't interpret the scriptures on their own. If the Imams are not reliable then they have a huge problem and that is a big reason why Islam is a dangerous religion. Many of their religious leaders are violent, intolerant and separatists.
Then how do you explain this:
Top Ten Quran Verses for Understanding ISIS (the Islamic State)
That's the Quran itself, how would you interpret those verses? I know many people consider David Wood an Islamophobe but can you challenge him and his facts?
Most of the atrocities over the centuries have been due to the desire for more land and resources. Such would certainly have existed without Islam.Would there have been as many atrocities over the centuries and to this day if Islam had never existed?
Yes.
I do not think we will gain any more from this discussion. Because we are too far apart from each other in understanding and view of Islam as a religion. But that's ok.Historical evidence contradicts both of those answers.
