Ah, my poor Brit friend. Itś too bad that if your leader came to America, it would mean nothing to us. In fact, most Americans wouldn´t even notice, or care.

Londons mayor began the exchange of niceties by a highly derogatory op ed in a major newspaper. So, you don´t like the response, too bad.

You worry about the cost to your country of this visit, when you support an entire extended family of inbred royals in massive luxury, in perpetuity, and they do nothing more important than go to horse shows ? Your concern seems misplaced.

Another cost is the paid lefty demonstrators being bused in from all over the UK, to howl and whine, you ought to worry about that.

I have to tell you, that in the final analysis, as an American whose ancestors came from England in the 1700ś, I couldn´t care less about your opinion.

We are infinitely more important to you than you are to us. Get over it.

In real terms the Royal family cost the Country very little if anything at all.
many years ago they exchanged the many estates that they owned for an annual income. the country has done extraordinarily well out of that deal.
The Prince of wales and his family is supported by the income from his own estates.
The queen supports a number of junior royals out of her own estate income.
Those that are supported by the state are in compensation for official duties.
The public royal estate is funded by the nation, but would need to be so Royalty or not. However The queen does use her own funds for many Projects including the rebuilding of much of the fire damage at Windsor castle.

I rather doubt the President ever dips into his own pocket for anything and seems to have put most of his family on to the Pay roll too.

It is true that the UK has become less reliant on trade with the USA as much of the traditional supply chain and trade has moved to China India the far and middle east. the USA is becoming more and more redundant as a trading partner... It has also become so to its own people, who now buy goods sourced elsewhere.

Why is Trump here?
So far he has insulted the Mayor of London and the Duchess of Sussex.
and has interfered in the Tory party leadership election as well as suggesting that he wants to meet Nigel Farage, who has no capacity in government.
And that was before his plane touched down.
He is totally avoiding meeting or even seeing the people, by going from point to point in his helicopter and landing on private enclosed grounds.
He knows he is not wanted, he knows he can do no further business with Teresa May.
It is not only an insult it is a complete waste of British and American Public money.
All so he can be flattered by a Photo opportunity with the Queen.
Yes, he is there to insult you. We have had enough of him for a little while and we needed a break.

Sorry about that:p

I am disgusted that we are rolling the red carpet out for Trump.
Trouble is post-Brexit we are desperate for trade deals and friends.
It pleases me that you Limeys (especially the
royals) are sucking up to us...even to Trump.
(I've not forgiven you for Lucas Electric or @old badger.)
At least we didn't send Madonna again.

It is only the elite who are sucking up - most of the public is either protesting or staying well away.
He's running scared though, streets emptied, reduced itinerary, can't even get to his golf courses.

If your streets are emptied, that sounds like someone else is running scared.

Yes, the elite.
Main protests are tomorrow apparently - including the blimp.
He has not been seen by the public today or even on show, What a difference from when Obama was here.

Interesting, all these estates that the royals own, how did they acquire them ? The money the queen uses to support her hangers on, where did that come from ?

They have official duties, like what ?

Yes, we buy cheap things sourced elsewhere, however Japanese and German cars, like BMW and Mercedes are built by Americans in America.
We are the largest oil producer in the world, ditto for natural gas.

We are the greatest innovators in the world, the internet you use and GPS you probably use were invented and developed by the USA.

The President is paid $(0) per annum in salary, donating the rest back to the treasury and to charity.

His daughter has a post primarily to promote womens issues, she has drafted legislation and made a strong effort regarding child care for working mothers.

His son in law has a diplomatic post, whereby he has worked with the ambassadors of the US to further our interests.

Britain has faded as a world power, and we will probably do the same in the distant future.

For now however, it is what it is.

Trump can be a buffoon, no doubt, yet his policies, especially America first are reaping great benefits, virtually 0 unemployment, and a booming economy.

If he can stop the economic migrations that exist to take social benefits from Americans (I suspect you are familiar with how that works) and block the left wing loons, we will be fine.

No, he is not there to insult people but if he does along the way they probably deserved it, his real mission is to interfere in U.K. politics and undermine your democracy. Your queen will be pregnant soon

He is bringing more shame to the American people, were that possible. I deeply respect the folk of the UK, being Scots on one side of the family, and English on the other.

LOL, you love osama bin obama, who left our economy in shambles, and told us his managed dismal growth rate, was the new norm. In the process, he started a civil war in Libya, and armed the Mexican Drug cartels by distributing sophisticated small arms to them, one of which killed a border patrol officer,
Perhaps you thought he was the Messiah, you were wrong. Is the blimp a member of the royal family ?
Trump insults people everywhere.
Yes, Trump is an equal opportunity insulter. However, most like the mayor of London, deserve it. That fine man, began the latest round by his snarky op ed about Trump.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest his tent, but peace be upon his name.

Yes we buy cheap stuff from China. However, we manufacture Japanese and German ( BMW, Mercedes) cars here.
We also manufacture commercial airplanes, as well as the most sophisticated military planes in the world. Ditto for commercial shipping and military ships.

The President donates his entire salary to the treasury and charity.

His daughter has an office and her work is directed to women issues. She has drafted legislation and is working very steadily on childcare for working women, she receives no salary.

His son in law has a foreign policy advisory role and has been all over the world in that capacity. I do not know if he is paid, or not.

How did the royals get "their" estates ?

What are the vital duties that that this extended family performs for the UK ?

If you think about the very existence of POTUS is an insult to the monarchy. Revolution and all.
