Oh please tell how was it like Reagan negotiating with the Soviets. I think Reagan got something out of the deal since Reagan came to the table with the winning hand and all the chips. What did we all get when Trump decided to go hobnob with Lil' Kim? Nothing. Zilch. Nada. What we got is a more confident Kim.
First, I don't claim that Trump was successful in negotiating with Kim.
But the general approach of seeking peace in order to avoid war is
still a good one.
People always trot out Chamberlain & Hitler to justify continued conflict.
It's a recurring thingie here on RF, ie, "We must attack because Hitler!"
No approach is without risks. But I find the risks of seeking peace to
be safer than seeking war.
As for Reagan...he underwent a personal change, moving from enmity
with the Soviets to understanding. Sometimes the main reason we're
enemies is simply because we're used to being enemies.

You compared him to Reagan, who was successful in negotiating with the Soviets. Was Trump successful when he negotiated with Kim or not?

So now you are making predictions instead of facing the truth. He failed with Kim and is more like Chamberlain than Reagan but I think your too deep in the Kool-Aid to just admit a simple truth like that.

Different kind of people, different kind of mentality today. Long gone are the fox hunts and fine tea along with that famous stiff upper lip and headstrong yet elegant charm. Makes me wonder what Winny would have said if he was alive today? Even Margaret Thatcher.
I suppose even Trump can't help re-kindle that fire that once burned brightly under the Union Jack.
I can still hear the classic Brit comment, "It's really quite a pity old bean".
